Start with a stable connection, enough free storage, and a device restart. Then choose the fix that matches the problem: a stalled download, a launcher decompression error, or a platform update failure. Use HoYoPlay on PC and the official app-store or console update tools on other platforms.
Start with the safest checks
- Check that your internet connection is stable. If possible, connect by cable; otherwise try another Wi-Fi network. Restart your router if the connection is unreliable.
- Check that the device has enough free storage for both the game and temporary installation files. Close unused apps to free system resources.
- Restart the device, then reopen the official launcher or update tool and try again.
- On PC, open HoYoPlay and select Repair Now if that option is available.
HoYoverse lists unstable connections or network restrictions, firewall or antivirus interference, insufficient storage or system resources, corrupted partial downloads, and outdated system software or drivers among possible causes of download and update failures. If you suspect security software is blocking the game, only adjust an exception for the trusted game or launcher if you understand the software’s settings; restore protection after diagnosis. Fix a download that is stuck or showing zero speed
- Switch to another Wi-Fi network or try a different connection, then resume the download.
- If the problem continues, clear the game’s local data or resource files. On mobile, use the device’s app storage settings to clear the app data. On PC, open the game’s Settings > Download Resources > Delete.
- Restart the download. If it still fails, try downloading on a different device.
Clearing app data or downloaded resources can mean downloading the game resources again. Before doing so, make sure the connection is stable and the device has enough free space. See HoYoVerse: Why is my game’s resource download stuck or showing 0 speed?.
Resolve HoYoPlay decompression errors
For launcher errors such as 6011-x-x, 2002-x-x, or 8002-x-x, try the following steps in order, retrying the launcher after each one:

- Restart the computer.
- Change the installation path to a different disk drive.
- Switch to another Wi-Fi network or use a mobile hotspot.
If none works, contact HoYoverse Customer Service and include the exact error code. The official instructions are at HoYoVerse: How can I fix launcher decompression failures with error codes 6011-x-x, 2002-x-x, or 8002-x-x?.
If the message is “Failed to unzip files … (2002-0-0)”
A separate official release FAQ for this historical error recommends using its official repair tool, restarting HoYoPlay, and downloading damaged resources again. If the launcher reports that incorrectly downloaded resources do not exist, it suggests reinstalling on a new disk partition. Because those instructions date from the 2024 launch period, contact current support if the repair tool or directions are no longer available. Do not download repair utilities from unofficial sites. Check storage and device requirements before retrying
Installation and decompression both need free space; a game may fail even when there is enough room for its installed files if there is not enough room to unpack them. HoYoverse’s published figures differ between two pages updated in 2025, so use the page dates when interpreting them and check the live storage guidance before starting:

The figures are not interchangeable: each reflects a different dated official page. The storage page also advises allowing extra room for patches. Check HoYoVerse’s current storage guidance before deleting files or attempting another installation.

PC minimum specifications
The HoYoverse minimum-requirements page, updated August 26, 2025, lists Windows 10 64-bit or later, DirectX 11.1 or later, a seventh-generation Intel Core i5 or AMD equivalent, 8 GB RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or similar. It lists 57 GB of storage plus another 58 GB for decompression. These dated minimums do not guarantee that every later game patch will fit or run well. When an SSD may help
The 2024 official release FAQ recommended an SSD for PC. Consider one only if your computer supports the drive type and you need more usable capacity or want to follow that recommendation. An SSD does not fix an unstable connection, a mobile app-store problem, or a console update issue.

Update through the official tool for your platform

Console menu names and update notices can change with platform software and game versions. If the listed path is different, check HoYoverse’s live announcement for your platform. The platform steps above are described in its Version 3.2 announcement.

If the connection, storage, repair, and symptom-specific steps do not work, reinstall from the official source: HoYoverse’s website on PC, the App Store on iOS, or Google Play on Android. On console, use the platform’s own game management and update tools. Avoid unofficial installers and repair downloads.

Contact support with details that help diagnose the failure
If the issue persists, send HoYoverse Customer Service the device model, operating-system version, a screenshot or screen recording of the error, and when and in which region it occurred.
