For smoother play in Zenless Zone Zero on PC, choose a frame-rate target your system can sustain, then reduce demanding visual features before sacrificing more image quality than necessary. Keep ray tracing off while troubleshooting performance, and treat super resolution, frame generation and DX12 as optional features with specific hardware requirements—not automatic upgrades. The detailed guidance below is for eligible Windows PCs; mobile and console settings differ.
Start with a frame-rate target you can maintain
As a practical starting point, try 60 FPS if your PC can hold it consistently. If the frame rate frequently drops below that target, choose a lower target rather than chasing a higher peak that makes play feel uneven. This is a general tuning approach, not a guaranteed preset or a result from independent benchmark testing. HoYoverse specifically recommends 60 FPS or Unlimited in its frame-generation guidance, but that recommendation is in the context of using frame generation.
Which PC settings should you change?
Ray tracing: leave it off while diagnosing stutter
Ray tracing is optional and has substantial hardware requirements. HoYoverse’s PC Visual Experience Upgrade FAQ, updated July 29, 2026, requires an NVIDIA 20-series-or-newer GPU with RT cores and excludes systems with less than 8GB of VRAM. It applies ray tracing only in city scenes and selected combat scenes; other scenes use the default global illumination setting.
If your compatible PC has enough VRAM and you want to try ray tracing, HoYoverse recommends pairing it with DLSS Super Resolution or FSR Super Resolution. Its resolution-specific ray-tracing guidance lists 8GB VRAM or above at 1080p, 12GB or above at 1440p, and 16GB or above at 2160p. It recommends Medium ray-tracing quality at 1080p and 1440p, High at 2160p, and Performance super-resolution quality at 1080p or Balanced at 1440p and 2160p. These are recommendations for ray tracing, not a general GPU requirement for playing the game.

Super resolution: tune its quality level
When super resolution is enabled, HoYoverse says the anti-aliasing and rendering controls cannot be adjusted separately. Use the Super Resolution Quality Level to balance image quality against performance instead of looking for those unavailable controls.
Frame generation: meet the Windows prerequisite first
- In Windows, enable Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling in Graphics settings.
- Restart Windows before launching the game.
- Enable frame generation in the game, then try V-Sync off and an FPS setting of Unlimited or 60, following HoYoverse’s recommendation for the best frame-generation experience.
With frame generation enabled, the super-resolution control cannot be adjusted. If drops or stutter continue, check that Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling is active; HoYoverse does not claim frame generation will eliminate every performance issue.

DX12: use it only on supported hardware
HoYoverse lists DX12 support for NVIDIA 20-series-and-newer GPUs with RT cores and AMD Radeon RX 7000/9000 series. Eligible users can switch DX12 on in the launcher; unchecking the option returns the game to DX11. The FAQ does not establish that DX12 is faster on every system, so return to DX11 if the newer mode causes compatibility or stability problems.
Use the published PC requirements as context, not an FPS promise
HoYoverse’s 2024 launch announcement lists these PC specifications. They are launch-era requirements, not current benchmark results or a guarantee of a particular frame rate.

These figures come from HoYoverse’s 2024 launch requirements announcement. It recommends an SSD for installation, but does not say that an SSD increases FPS. There is no established universal FPS gain for a particular preset in the sources cited here.

PC
The feature requirements and settings guidance above apply to eligible Windows GPU configurations. Check the compatibility requirements before enabling ray tracing, frame generation or DX12.

Android and iOS
HoYoverse’s launch announcement lists mobile device and operating-system requirements, but it does not establish current mobile graphics presets or device-specific frame-rate advice. Do not apply PC-only feature steps to a phone or tablet.
PS5 Pro and other consoles
In a December 6, 2024 PlayStation Blog post, Cross Shi, technical lead of Zenless Zone Zero at HoYoverse, described version 1.4 performance on PS5 Pro: “With the PS5 Pro’s upgraded GPU and support for High Frequency mode, we’ve achieved native 4K resolution and 60 FPS simultaneously with the average frame rate increasing by nearly ten frames.” This is a developer-reported result for PS5 Pro and that version, not a PC setting recommendation or evidence about base PS5 performance.
