Troubleshoot low frame rates, choppy performance, or long loading times
CD PROJEKT RED’s PlayStation performance support guidance recommends checking the console’s condition and software state. Work through these steps:
- Check the console’s temperature. If it is overheating, let it cool before continuing.
- Make sure airflow is unobstructed. Check the space around the console, particularly its rear vents.
- Check for dust or dirt. Look around the console, especially at the rear, and follow PlayStation’s care guidance when cleaning.
- If you use a disc, check its condition. The developer includes disc condition in its troubleshooting checks.
- Pause or finish background downloads. Then see whether the problem changes.
- Restart the PS5 after using Rest Mode. CD PROJEKT RED says sleep does not clear the cache, so a full console restart may help.
- Restart the game after a long session. The developer recommends this to clear memory and improve performance.
These are troubleshooting recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular step will fix frame pacing or produce a steady 60 FPS. The guidance does not prescribe a cooling stand, extra fan, cleaning product, or storage upgrade as a frame-rate fix.

What to expect after changing settings
Performance Mode is the appropriate first choice when the goal is smoother play, but the 60 FPS figure is an official target rather than an independent measurement for every location or scene. Dynamic resolution scaling is part of the mode description. If choppiness persists, use the developer’s console and software checks above rather than assuming an accessory will raise frame rate.
