The reported offer was for a digital Steam purchase. It does not establish an Amazon price, a physical-copy discount, or the price of an edition on another platform. Capcom lists Requiem for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC; its release date was February 27, 2026. What is established about the film’s box office?
The Associated Press reported an estimated $60 million North American opening from 3,684 locations and a $108.3 million worldwide launch, including $48.3 million internationally. Those are opening-period figures, not a later cumulative worldwide total. The AP report does not substantiate the claim that the film has neared $250 million, so that figure should not be treated as verified based on the available reporting. AP’s box-office report attributes the opening estimate to studio figures.

AP described the North American opening as a franchise best and reported a production cost of $75 million, excluding marketing and promotion. The cost is a reported figure, not a complete measure of what the film must earn to become profitable: distribution, marketing, theater revenue shares, and other costs also matter.

Capcom said Resident Evil Requiem had sold more than six million units worldwide by March 16, 2026, and called it the fastest game in the series to reach that milestone. That figure counts units sold; it is not revenue and should not be conflated with the film’s box office.

There has also been reporting of increased activity for older Resident Evil games after the film’s release. GamesRadar+, citing estimates from Alinea Analytics analyst Rhys Elliott, reported changes for several games while noting that Capcom discounts coincided with the film.
