Two gaming-news reports say she eventually beat the boss after roughly 240 attempts or deaths. This was a staged streaming challenge, not an actual prison sentence.
What happened in the challenge?
According to VGTimes’ October 1, 2026 report, Cummings stayed in a makeshift jail in his studio as his mother attempted to defeat Margit. Jeuxvideo.com’s October 6 report describes a fake prison in Cummings’s apartment and says the challenge was narrowed to Margit to keep the event feasible.

The premise drew on a fan dilemma framed as choosing between a three-year prison term and waiting for one’s mother to beat Elden Ring. The reports connect the stunt to that idea, but do not establish who originated the meme or provide a verified verbatim version of its original wording.
How long did it take, and how many tries?
Both reports put the challenge at about 24 hours and describe approximately 240 attempts or deaths before the victory. Their wording differs, so these are reported figures for this event—not independently verified stream statistics or a general measure of how difficult Margit is. Who was Margit, the target of the challenge?
Margit, the Fell Omen, is the boss named in the reports. VGTimes calls him the first boss; Jeuxvideo.com describes him as the first major boss. The difference is a matter of how the reports characterize his place in the game, not a different challenge target.
