Choose Shadow Fight 4: Arena if you want competitive online fights, quick matches, and a team of three heroes. Choose Shadow Fight 3 if you want a longer story campaign, equipment to collect, and a character to customize. Both are free-to-play downloads with ads and in-app purchases, so the better fit comes down to the kind of progression and combat you want.

What makes Arena the better choice?
Shadow Fight 4: Arena is the more direct pick if you want its main loop to be fighting other players. NEKKI describes online PvP battles in which each player fields a team of three heroes. You build that roster by collecting and upgrading heroes, then tune them with talent choices. Skins, emotes, and animations provide additional appearance customization.
It is not limited to online competition: the listing also describes a story mode against AI opponents and offline fights against bots. Online PvP requires a stable internet connection, and the listing says a stable connection is required more generally. Arena also promotes tournaments and monthly seasons, giving competitive players recurring activities beyond individual matches.
What makes Shadow Fight 3 the better choice?
Shadow Fight 3 is the better match if you want a campaign to carry you through the game. Its listing describes an online RPG fighter that continues the Shadow Fight story, with choices, bosses, exploration, and journeys through other worlds and time.

Character development centers on equipment and fighting styles. You choose among three factions—Legion, Dynasty, and Heralds—each described as having a distinct worldview and style. Weapons and armor can be collected and combined into equipment sets that unlock abilities, making gear selection part of how you shape your fighter. The listing also includes themed events and duels against other players’ heroes controlled by AI.
How their progression and connectivity differ
The games offer different kinds of collection. Arena focuses on expanding and upgrading a roster of heroes, then tailoring those heroes with talents. Shadow Fight 3 focuses on developing a customizable hero and experimenting with weapons, armor, and complete sets. Pick the roster-building loop if you like switching among fighters; pick the gear-and-loadout loop if you would rather shape one character’s equipment over a campaign.

Both listings describe the games as requiring a stable internet connection. Arena makes a specific exception in its feature description: you can fight bots offline. Shadow Fight 3 is presented as an online game and does not advertise an offline mode in its listing, so do not assume its campaign works without a connection.
What to know about ads and purchases
Both games are free to download and list ads and in-app purchases. Arena’s listing describes a subscription with premium cosmetics and bonus cards, as well as a no-ads benefit. Shadow Fight 3’s store content label notes that in-app purchases can include random items. The listings do not establish that purchases are required to complete either game, and they are not enough to support a blanket claim that either game is pay-to-win. As shown on the Google Play listings retrieved October 7, 2026, both games are listed for Android and Windows. Arena’s listing showed an update dated August 27, 2026; Shadow Fight 3’s showed August 19, 2026. These are listing details, not guarantees that every feature or offer is identical across platforms.
At that retrieval date, Google Play showed Arena at 50M+ downloads and 1.87M reviews, and Shadow Fight 3 at 100M+ downloads and 4.52M reviews. Final recommendation
Choose Shadow Fight 4: Arena for a competitive, roster-based fighting game with online PvP and explicitly advertised offline bot matches. Choose Shadow Fight 3 for a story-led RPG fighter built around faction identity, campaign exploration, and equipment progression. Neither is a universal upgrade over the other; the deciding question is whether you want to compete with a team or progress through a campaign.
