In Aion 2, Essence Extraction is the gathering profession: interact with a resource node and try to fill the Success gauge before the Failure gauge. Success gives you the resource and advances the profession; failure means you do not complete that harvest. The available guides describe no general Kinah fee for an ordinary attempt, but they do not establish that every attempt is universally free.
How an Essence Extraction attempt works
- Find a named resource node, such as Ruby Gemstone or Orichalcum Ore, and interact with it.
- Watch the Success and Failure gauges. The guides describe the outcome as whichever gauge fills first: Success awards the resource, while Failure ends the attempt without a successful harvest.
- After a successful harvest, you receive gathering experience toward Essence Extraction, a profession level that is separate from your character’s combat level.
- Keep gathering only while the node has Essence remaining. When depleted, the game indicates that no Essence remains. One guide reports two to four uses per node, but that count is not established as universal.
This is distinct from Item Extraction, which the SPACE4GAMES guide describes as breaking down old equipment. The gauge mechanic and depletion behavior are covered by VGC’s October 5, 2026 guide and SPACE4GAMES’ guide.
What materials can you gather?
The guides list six Essence Extraction categories. Node names and the current client’s labels are the best guide to what a particular interaction will yield.

Corpus describes base, Fine, Pure, and Radiant material grades and says grades affect crafting use. Treat those as guide-reported rather than an exhaustive, current list: confirm available grades and node yields in your client. The category and Odyle details are also described in SPACE4GAMES and Corpus.

What does extraction cost?
The cited guides do not document a general Kinah charge per ordinary attempt, a required consumable for every attempt, or a fixed number of attempts needed to get a resource. That is not proof that every version or circumstance has no cost; check the interaction and current client for any displayed fee or requirement. Node depletion limits further gathering from an exhausted node, and skill-point choices are a separate progression consideration.
The clearest documented progression requirement is at Novice 50: the SPACE4GAMES guide reports that promotion to Professional requires obtaining Splendent Ruby (Bound) from Ruby nodes. That is a quest-item requirement, not a stated Kinah fee for routine extraction.

How Essence Extraction levels and promotion work
SPACE4GAMES reports that characters gain access to gathering at character level 10, while Essence Extraction itself begins at Novice Lv. 1 and progresses through successful gathering. That access-level detail comes from a guide based on pre-release gameplay; confirm it in the current client. VGC independently describes profession progression through gathering, but the sources do not establish a universal current access rule.
At Novice 50, complete the promotion quest
According to SPACE4GAMES, Novice progression reaches Lv. 50 and pauses until you complete an upgrade quest to Professional. The reported quest calls for Splendent Ruby (Bound), gathered from Ruby nodes. Do not confuse it with Radiant Ruby Gemstone: the guide identifies that as a different crafting material that does not satisfy this quest. Search for the exact item name shown by the quest in your current client.

After promotion
The guides agree on the reported Novice-to-Professional promotion, but conflict about the Professional ceiling: SPACE4GAMES describes Professional Lv. 50, while Corpus describes progression continuing through Lv. 100. The current maximum is therefore not established by these guides; use the level and promotion information displayed in your client.
Can skills improve your success chance?
VGC says repeated use and investment in listed profession skills can improve success chances. S4G describes common and specialty skill points, while Corpus supplies specific effects and point totals. Those precise values are secondary-source details and are not established here as universal current numbers. Before spending points, read the skill descriptions in your current interface and consider which materials you actually need, how accessible their nodes are, and whether you want to gather for crafting or sale.

No reliable success percentage, average yield, or time-per-harvest figure is established by these guides. Market prices are also server- and region-specific; check your own market rather than relying on a general price claim.

SPACE4GAMES published its guide on October 1 and updated it October 2, 2026, during Advanced Access before the stated October 5 release. Its author says the guide is based on personal gameplay footage and screenshots and warns names and values may change. VGC’s guide was published October 5, 2026; Corpus published October 4. These are recent secondary guides, not confirmation of official post-launch rules, regional differences, fixed fees, or universal node-use counts.
