If you want games like Silver Pines, start with SIGNALIS for scarce resources, riddles, and psychological horror, or Crow Country for retro survival-horror exploration and an optional no-combat mode. Neither comparison should be mistaken for a confirmed Metroidvania match: the official descriptions reviewed here do not establish the same tool-gated route progression that defines Silver Pines.

What makes Silver Pines a useful comparison point?

Silver Pines is Team17’s “love letter to classic survival horror.” The publisher describes private investigator Red Walker searching for missing musician Eddie Velvet in a partly abandoned town, scavenging resources and solving puzzles as locked doors and hidden paths become accessible with better tools and weapons. That mix—not horror alone—is the key to finding close alternatives: consider resource pressure, puzzles, backtracking, atmosphere, and combat together.

Steam lists Silver Pines for release on October 8, 2026, with Wych Elm as developer and Team17 as publisher. The publisher has announced Steam, Epic Games Store, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PS5, while platform listings and availability can vary by store and region. Check the relevant storefront for the current release and platform details. Steam listing · Team17 announcement

Best games to try if you want Silver Pines’ survival-horror feel

SIGNALIS: scarce resources, puzzles, and psychological horror

SIGNALIS is the strongest recommendation if the part of Silver Pines that appeals to you is survival-horror pressure paired with puzzles and a bleak atmosphere. Nintendo describes it as classic psychological survival horror, with scarce resources, challenging riddles, and exploration of a derelict spaceship and doomed facility. Its setting and tone differ from a partly abandoned town, but it speaks to the same appetite for tense exploration and careful resource use.

I Hate This Place - Nintendo Switch
  • Classic Craft-Based Survival Horror - Scavenge every corner of Rutherford Ranch to stay alive. From haunted forests, a derelict town, to infested bunkers. Explore a world teeming with danger as you gather vital resources, craft essential gear, upgrade your campsite, and rebuild outposts to have somewhere to hide.
  • Day Prepares You. Night Hunts You - A dynamic day-night cycle that changes the world. Use daylight wisely to explore, scavenge supplies, craft what you need, and prepare for what’s coming. When night falls, the real nightmares come out to play. More enemies appear, stronger and more aggressive than before. The landscape becomes harder to navigate with just your flashlight. Sometimes your best hope is to find shelter and hunker down till morning.
  • Deadly Silence Goes A Long Way - Stealth and combat go hand-in-hand here as many of the twisted creatures in Rutherford Ranch hunt and stalk you by sound alone. Brute force will often just land you in an early grave. Use sound to your advantage, luring creatures away from your path or cleverly leading them straight into deadly traps you laid.
  • 80’s Vibes Meets Comic Book Flair - Inspired by the award-nominated comic book series created by Kyle Starks and Artyom Topilin, I Hate This Place comes to life with bold colors, a punchy retro comic book style, and a heavy dose of '80s flair. A unique blend of horror, dark humor, and just the right touch of camp and gore where unsettling dread meets stylized charm.
  • Languages – English in-game voice. English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Simplified Chinese, and Spanish (Spain) in-game text.

The official Nintendo material reviewed here does not establish Metroidvania-style map progression or tool-gated routes for SIGNALIS. Choose it as a mechanics-and-atmosphere match, not as a confirmed structural equivalent. Nintendo lists a Switch Game Card edition. Nintendo’s SIGNALIS listing

Crow Country: retro horror exploration with optional no-combat play

Crow Country suits players looking for old-school survival-horror atmosphere, puzzles, characters, and monster-filled exploration. PlayStation describes it as drawing on PlayStation-era survival-horror games. Its Exploration Mode lets you experience the atmosphere and unfolding story without combat, making it a useful choice if you want the exploration and puzzle side of horror without fighting.

The official page reviewed here does not establish the same resource scarcity or gated backtracking described for Silver Pines. Treat Crow Country as a mood and exploration comparison rather than a confirmed Metroidvania. PlayStation’s Crow Country listing

How closely do these games match Silver Pines?

Game What aligns with Silver Pines What the official descriptions reviewed here do not establish Best fit if you want…
SIGNALIS Scarce resources, challenging riddles, psychological survival horror, and exploration Metroidvania-style gated map progression Resource pressure and puzzles in a bleak horror setting
Crow Country Retro survival-horror atmosphere, puzzles, and exploration; optional no-combat Exploration Mode Matching scarcity emphasis or Metroidvania-style progression Classic horror exploration, with the option to avoid combat

These are comparisons by specific features, not a shared scorecard: the available official descriptions do not establish every game on every axis. For a broader reference point, GamesRadar’s October 6, 2026 review frames Silver Pines through Silent Hill and Resident Evil, particularly around locked routes, inventory management, and return visits. That makes those series useful touchstones for the intended blend, but it does not establish a particular entry as a verified recommendation here. GamesRadar’s Silver Pines review
