For Worlds 2026, Riot announced 19 places: three each for the LCK, LCS, LCP, LEC and LPL; two for CBLOL; one for the MSI champion; and one extra place for the region whose team finishes second at MSI. Most teams qualify through their own region’s final split and playoffs, but those routes differ by league. Riot has not yet published the final Worlds 2026 seeding details.
How many teams qualify for Worlds 2026?
Riot’s March 22, 2026 announcement sets the field at 19 teams. Five leagues receive three places apiece, CBLOL receives two, and MSI results account for two further places.

The MSI places are separate routes. The champion’s team receives an invite only if it also qualifies for playoffs in its home region. The second-place region gains an extra domestic-league place; it does not grant the MSI runner-up team an automatic invite on that basis alone.
How do teams qualify through their regional leagues?
The common principle is that teams compete in their region’s final split and playoff system. Riot’s 2026 season overview places Split 3 before Worlds and says Split 2 results qualify teams to MSI. But the six leagues—LCK, LCS, LCP, LEC, LPL and CBLOL—run their own split formats. There is no single shared standings table, playoff bracket or tie-break system.

These examples do not establish the detailed playoff formats for the LCP, LPL or CBLOL. Their exact qualification rules, seeding and tie-breaks should be checked in the relevant regional handbook.

How does MSI affect Worlds qualification and seeding?
MSI affects both who can reach Worlds and how qualified teams are seeded. Its champion has a conditional direct Worlds invite, while the region finishing second receives one more domestic place. Separately, Riot says qualified teams’ seeding will reflect regional performance, including results at MSI 2026. The specific 2026 seed order has not been announced in the cited Riot update, so no fixed order should be treated as confirmed.

Worlds begins with a four-team Play-In played as a double-elimination, best-of-five bracket. Its winner advances to the Swiss stage. Riot’s announcement lists the Play-In for October 15–18 in Los Angeles; Swiss is scheduled for October 23–26 and October 28–31 in Allen, Texas. Quarterfinals are listed for November 3–6, semifinals for November 7–8 in Allen, and the Grand Final for November 14 in Brooklyn.
