That is a tactical judgment based on DMZ’s documented activities and threats—not a proven performance ranking. Call of Duty has not published comparative solo-versus-squad survival, objective-completion, or extraction rates.
What changes when you explore solo or with a squad?
DMZ is an extraction experience set in the Hajin Exclusion Zone. Its official overview describes solo and squad deployments, exploration and objectives, with other Operators sharing the environment. Even a quiet route can be interrupted by players, objectives, or encounters. Call of Duty’s June 6, 2026 overview establishes those broad conditions, but does not publish outcomes by party size.
Solo: direct control, fewer backups
Going alone means you can set your own pace and change direction without coordinating a route with teammates. That flexibility is practical advice, not a verified game mechanic or guarantee of a quieter run. If contact begins, you also have no squadmate beside you; the sources do not quantify how much that changes your odds.
Squad: shared coverage, with coordination to manage
A squad can share attention and support one another during contact, and teammates can coordinate a common route or objective. Those are reasonable tactical advantages, not measured guarantees. A squad still has to deal with Hajin’s threats, and the available official material does not establish a universally best party size.

Which Hajin activities fit each playstyle?
For a cautious first look: start with Side Ops
Call of Duty’s October 2026 Hajin guide frames Side Ops as lower-intensity ways to explore, earn DMZ XP, find resources, and uncover intel. Examples include recovering lost Supply Drops, repairing trucks, and climbing radio towers to reveal a Lieutenant’s general location. These activities can suit a solo player seeking a deliberate outing or a squad that wants a shared objective. Lower intensity does not mean risk-free: unexpected danger can still disrupt the plan.
For Hunt Operators: expect a serious fight
The Hunt Operators Dynamic Op calls for facing a full squad of rival Operators. That makes it a clear high-risk choice for a solo explorer. A squad has backup available, but the guide does not promise that teammates make the encounter easy or quantify the advantage.

How should you prepare before deploying?
Use the planned activity—not a blanket rule about party size—to shape your deployment:
- Check Orders and task requirements. Confirm what the mission asks you to do before infil; the Hajin guide recommends reviewing requirements ahead of deployment.
- Choose your Operator and gear for that task. The guide advises matching your Operator and equipment to the planned activity. Appropriate preparation may help you execute your plan, but it does not remove the uncertainty of solo play.
- Pick a route that supports your objective. Decide where you need to go and what you are willing to risk. For lower-intensity exploration, consider a Side Op; for Hunt Operators, plan around the stated full-squad rival threat.
- Choose solo or squad based on how you want to handle disruption. Go solo if self-directed movement and added challenge are part of the appeal. Bring a squad if you value shared coverage and backup when a route turns into a fight.
Is Hajin easier solo or in a squad?
The evidence supports a qualified answer, not a universal verdict: a squad is the safer default for broad exploration that may become combat, while solo can work for deliberate exploration if you accept greater uncertainty. Xbox Wire’s June 2026 interview discusses the design of solo play, but design intent does not demonstrate balance or prove which party size achieves better results. No comparative performance rates are established in the available sources.
