Measure the completed LEGO model in the pose you plan to display, then compare its maximum width, depth and height—including its base, accessories and protruding parts—with the case’s usable interior dimensions. Leave room to place the model without scraping it against the walls. A ready-made case is simplest when its interior fits; consider a custom case for an unusually large or irregular build.
Measure the model in its intended display pose
Set movable parts where you want them to stay, and include anything that will be enclosed with the build: its stand or base, minifigures, scenery and accessories. Measure the widest, deepest and tallest points. For adjustable wings, sails, doors or antennas, decide whether the case should fit one fixed pose or allow room to reposition them later.
Set dimensions from the finished model, not the set’s box, piece count or promotional photos. Those do not establish whether the assembled build will fit. KGBOX’s Showcase-Pro product guidance likewise advises measuring the completed model.
Compare the model with usable interior dimensions
Check the case’s internal dimensions, not just its advertised outside measurements. Panels, a base or a lip can reduce the space available inside. For example, KGBOX lists a Showcase-Pro case with external dimensions of 30 × 30 × 40 cm and an internal fit limit of 29 × 29 × 39 cm; its larger listed option measures 60 × 30 × 40 cm externally and 59 × 29 × 39 cm internally.

Allow clearance around the build so you can put it in and take it out without catching parts on the walls. There is no universal clearance figure in these product listings. Incasedisplays recommends adding at least 1 inch to each overall dimension for its custom case, while KGBOX advises sizing up if the model is close to the case’s maximum. Follow the instructions for the specific case you are considering.
Choose a case format that suits the build
Compact official LEGO case
LEGO’s US listing for the Play and Display Case – Blue 5006157 describes a two-level presentation case with six gray baseplates, a transparent cover and a LEGO backdrop. Its stated dimensions are over 7.5 in (19 cm) high, 15.5 in (39 cm) wide and 5.5 in (14 cm) deep. Models and minifigures are not included. Treat it as a compact-format option and check your model’s dimensions against the actual usable space before ordering.

Ready-made stackable acrylic case
KGBOX’s Showcase-Pro comes in two listed sizes, uses 5 mm acrylic and has magnetic front access. The seller describes the cases as stackable and offers optional outline LED back panels. Each panel must match its case size; the two sizes’ panels are not cross-compatible. Check the internal limits against your model rather than assuming a case’s outside size is available for display.
Custom-size case
A made-to-order case can help when a build does not suit a standard size, but custom sellers use different measurement conventions. Incasedisplays says to enter interior wall-to-wall dimensions for its flat-packed case with a magnetic snap front and black acrylic base; its exterior dimensions will be larger because of panel thickness and the base lip. Puffin Plastics offers bespoke cases with selectable acrylic thicknesses from 3 to 10 mm, lists sizes as external dimensions and states a ±1 mm tolerance. Read the chosen seller’s instructions carefully before entering measurements.

Compare features that affect daily use
Once the case fits, compare the practical details that matter for your display:
- Access: Is the cover lift-off, magnetic-front or another design? Consider how you will place the model inside and reach it for rearrangement or cleaning.
- Base and footprint: Check the base style and total footprint against the shelf or surface where the case will sit.
- Material and construction: Compare the listed material and thickness, assembly requirements and whether the case ships flat-packed.
- Placement options: Confirm whether the case is stackable or suitable for wall mounting if that matters for your display.
- Lighting: Check whether lighting is included or optional, and whether any panel is made for the exact case size.
- Ordering terms: Check shipping destination, lead time and return policy, especially for a made-to-order case.
The listed products differ in dimensions, access, base design, lighting and custom options. The cited product pages do not provide controlled comparative tests of durability, optical clarity, dust sealing or UV performance, so those qualities cannot be ranked on this evidence.

Read dust and UV claims as seller descriptions
KGBOX describes its acrylic case as dust-resistant. Incasedisplays calls its clear acrylic UV-resistant, and Flying Box describes protection from dust and UV rays on its custom display-case page. These are seller claims; the cited pages do not give UV-transmission percentages or independent comparative test results. Do not assume all acrylic cases offer the same protection or treat “UV-resistant” as a quantified guarantee. Keeping a model out of direct sunlight is a prudent display choice, but these listings do not establish a measured fade-prevention benefit.

Custom-case errors can be difficult to correct after production. Before submitting dimensions, check whether the seller’s calculator asks for interior or exterior measurements, how it accounts for panel thickness and the base, and what clearance it recommends. Flying Box gives its own example for adding space to an item’s measurements and says custom orders are not returnable; check its current ordering information alongside the other seller’s written policy.

- Check that the seller’s measurement convention matches the dimensions you are entering, and add clearance according to that seller’s guidance.
- Confirm the case’s access, base, assembly, lighting and placement features, plus shipping, lead time and return terms.
