If you want the closest match to SILENT HILL: Townfall’s first-person stealth and survival pressure, start with Amnesia: The Bunker. Choose SOMA instead if psychological atmosphere, exploration, and a story-led experience matter more than stealth mechanics. Neither is a substitute for Townfall; each overlaps with a different part of what makes it appealing.
What to expect from SILENT HILL: Townfall
Konami describes SILENT HILL: Townfall as a full-length, self-contained psychological horror game set in Scotland in 1996, for PlayStation 5 and PC. Konami announced a September 24, 2026 release date, which has passed as of October 7, 2026. The announcement credits Screen Burn Interactive as developer and Konami and Annapurna Interactive as co-publishers. Konami’s Townfall page and its September 2026 release announcement provide the official details.
Konami calls it the Silent Hill series’ first fully first-person psychological horror title. A handheld CRTV is central to its design: the developers describe using it to view video signals as well as hear audio, expanding the ways signals could carry story information and support stealth. They put it this way: “By turning it into a visual device where you can watch video signals in addition to hearing audio, the possibilities exploded—from how we handle narrative presentation to how it integrates into gameplay, like stealth.” The developer discussion on PlayStation Blog also says puzzles were developed alongside the story, tying them to the setting and its inhabitants. The Steam listing describes a dynamic soundtrack that responds to player and enemy actions, including stealth. Townfall on Steam
That mix points to three useful ways to compare other games: whether they reward evasion or confrontation, how story and puzzles fit together, and whether survival is tightly structured or more exploratory. Townfall’s developers have discussed stealth and combat as parts of its design, so it should not be described as combat-free.

Best games to play if you want something like Townfall
| Game | Best match for | Stealth and danger | Story and exploration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amnesia: The Bunker | First-person stealth, survival pressure, and resource management | Stealth and evasion are prominent; its Steam tags include survival and resource management. | Exploration is listed as a feature; the available store information does not establish a Townfall-like puzzle-and-story integration. |
| SOMA | Psychological atmosphere, narrative, and exploration | It is not supported here as the closest stealth match; the cited Steam listing emphasizes other qualities. | Its Steam listing identifies it as atmospheric, story-rich, first-person science-fiction horror with exploration. |
Amnesia: The Bunker — closest for stealth and survival pressure
Pick Amnesia: The Bunker if the draw is being hunted, trying to evade danger, and making resources last while exploring. Steam lists it as first-person horror and tags it for stealth, survival, resource management, exploration, and psychological horror. That makes it the strongest feature overlap here with Townfall’s first-person horror and stealth direction, but it does not establish that the games share a story, pacing, or puzzle design. SOMA — strongest for story-led psychological atmosphere
Choose SOMA if you want first-person exploration and an unsettling, narrative-focused mood more than close stealth similarity. Frictional Games’ Steam listing describes it as science-fiction horror and includes psychological horror, atmospheric, story-rich, first-person, and exploration tags. That makes it a useful match for Townfall’s psychological and exploratory side, not the closest pick for stealth and survival pressure. SOMA on Steam
