On PC, the third-party Baldur’s Gate 3 Script Extender documents an EnableAchievements setting for modded games. Its debug console window is a separate feature, and the documentation does not say that simply opening that diagnostic window disables achievements.
What happens with mods from BG3’s Mod Manager?
Larian’s stated rule is straightforward: “Achievements are automatically disabled when you’re using mods.” That applies when mods are in use; it does not establish a universal rule for every cheat, debug window, or tool someone might call a console. Larian’s Community Update #29 explains the achievement restriction.
Patch 7 introduced BG3’s in-game Mod Manager and Toolkit. The manager lets players enable and disable mods, but Larian warns that disabling some mods can affect existing saves. Mod conflicts can also cause technical problems, including trouble loading or launching a game or issues with the interface. Larian’s Patch 7 information and mod guidance cover those risks.
What if you mean the PC Script Extender?
The third-party BG3 Script Extender documents an EnableAchievements configuration setting for enabling achievements in modded games. This is a feature of the Script Extender, not an official Larian guarantee that achievements will work in every modded campaign. Its documentation is available in the BG3 Script Extender project.

The extender’s FAQ says achievements are enabled automatically by the extender and that EnableAchievements defaults to true. It also cautions that extender versions target specific game builds, so an update can make a previously compatible version stop working. Check the current Script Extender FAQ and the game-build compatibility information before relying on the setting.
Does opening the Script Extender console disable achievements?
The Script Extender’s console is a PC diagnostic and debugging window, not a general in-game cheat console available on every platform. Its FAQ says Ctrl+F12 opens the window; the CreateConsole setting can make it persistent. The documentation describes the window as logging extender internals and discusses achievement behavior separately. It does not say that merely opening the diagnostic window disables achievements, but that is not a guarantee about every action taken through it or every mod installed alongside it.

What about PlayStation and Xbox?
Do not apply the PC Script Extender workaround to PlayStation or Xbox. Larian’s materials cover supported mods on console, while the Script Extender configuration instructions concern a PC tool. If you are playing on console, check whether a mod is enabled and follow Larian’s mod-and-achievement rule; the PC setting is not a console option.

What to check before using a cheat or mod
- Identify the platform and tool. “Console” might mean a PlayStation or Xbox system, the Script Extender’s PC debug window, or a mod that changes gameplay. Those are not interchangeable.
- Check whether a mod is active. Larian says platform achievements are automatically disabled while mods are in use.
- On PC, verify Script Extender compatibility. Check its current documentation and compatibility with your installed game build before relying on
EnableAchievements; a game update can affect compatibility. - Keep a separate save. Back up your campaign before changing mods. Larian warns that disabling some mods can affect existing saves, and modded saves can encounter technical problems.
- Do not assume achievements will be restored retroactively. The cited official material does not guarantee that removing mods or changing a setting will make every existing modded campaign eligible for achievements.
