If Bus Simulator 27 stutters, runs slowly or crashes, first identify the platform, game version and exact conditions that trigger the problem. On PC, compare performance changes to the likely CPU, GPU or memory limit; on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, check the update notes for that platform. No single setting or update is a universal fix.
First, identify what is happening
A frame-rate drop or uneven motion calls for performance troubleshooting; a crash is a repeatable failure that closes the game or returns you to the platform interface. Note whether the issue happens in a particular area, during a specific action, or only after a recent update.

- Record the platform: PC, PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. PC driver and Steam file checks do not apply to consoles.
- Record the trigger: the location, action immediately before a crash, and whether the symptom can be reproduced.
- For PC, record the setup: CPU, GPU, installed and available RAM, resolution, graphics settings and game version.
- Keep symptoms distinct: low or uneven frame rate is not the same problem as a crash, even if both began after the same update.
Check for a game update and a matching crash fix
Install the latest update available for your platform, then compare your symptom and trigger with the official Bus Simulator changelog. The changelog lists version 1.17, dated October 1, 2026. Its PC entry says Hotfix #10 and Update 1.17 fixed a crash caused by colliding with a pedestrian. Earlier entries document other crash and stability fixes, including platform-specific cases. A named fix is relevant only if it matches your platform and trigger; it does not establish the cause of other crashes.
If the problem began after an update, include that timing when reporting it rather than assuming the update is the cause. The game is available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, but PC requirements and settings advice below apply only to PC.
#1 Best Overall
For PC stuttering or low frame rates, find the likely limit
The Bus Simulator team wrote on September 25, 2026: “Your weakest component determines your overall system category and is also the first place to look when performance is lower than expected.” That points to a practical approach: change settings that address the suspected limit, one at a time, and check whether the same scene or situation improves. The guidance is diagnostic, not a promised cure.
Compare your PC with the published requirements
The official FAQ lists these PC requirements. They are specifications, not a guarantee of a particular frame rate.
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 11 64-bit | Windows 11 64-bit |
| Processor | Intel Core i3-12100 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600X or better | FAQ: Intel Core i7-14100KF or AMD Ryzen 5 9600X or better. The Steam listing instead says Intel Core i3-14100KF; the recommended Intel model is inconsistent between the sources. |
| Memory | 16 GB RAM or more | 32 GB RAM or more |
| Graphics | Nvidia GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 580 or better | Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT or better |
| DirectX | DirectX 12 | DirectX 12 |
| Available storage | 20 GB | 20 GB |
The official FAQ and Steam store listing agree on the minimum specifications but disagree on the recommended Intel CPU. Check the current listing for the storefront you use or ask official support to clarify before relying on that one model.
If the CPU appears to be limiting performance
Stutters or frame-rate drops in busy areas can point to simulation load. The developer recommends lowering AI Vehicle Density and Pedestrian Density for a CPU limit. Reduce one setting, revisit the same situation and compare. DLSS and Frame Generation do not resolve a CPU bottleneck.

For a graphics limit, the developer recommends starting with a supported DLSS mode: Quality first, then Balanced or Performance if more relief is needed. You can also test a lower resolution or reduce Global Illumination, shadows, reflections or effects. Change one relevant option at a time so you can tell which adjustment affects the symptom. DLSS availability depends on supported hardware and configuration.
If available RAM appears to be limiting performance
Close unnecessary background applications and see whether available memory changes the result. If memory remains the limiting component, an upgrade may be needed for the system category you are targeting. Check the PC’s memory type and upgrade compatibility before buying anything; additional RAM is not a general fix for crashes.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. For PC crashes or persistent problems, check software and installation
Official Steam technical support recommends checking operating-system updates, drivers and device configuration software where needed. These are sensible checks, not proof that outdated software caused the problem.
- Apply operating-system updates and restart the PC if required.
- Check relevant drivers and configuration software, especially graphics and input-device software, and update them where appropriate.
- Verify Steam files if an incorrect download or installation is plausible: Steam Library → Bus Simulator 27 → Properties → Local Files → Verify integrity of game files. Wait for Steam to finish, then retest the same trigger.
Console troubleshooting: check the platform update and reproduce the issue
On PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, install the latest game update available for that console and consult the console-specific changelog entry. Do not follow the PC-only steps for graphics drivers or Steam file verification. If a crash persists, record the game version, console, exact action that triggers it and any error text before contacting official support.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWhen to report a crash or stuttering that persists
If the usual platform-appropriate checks do not resolve the issue, send official support a reproducible report. Include the platform, game version, steps to reproduce, the exact error text if shown, when the issue began and whether it followed an update. For PC, add your CPU, GPU, installed and available RAM, resolution and graphics settings. A repeatable trigger and specific system details are more useful for diagnosis than describing the problem only as “crashing” or “lagging.”
