The official site currently labels Update 1 “in development,” so decide whether you want to play the listed build now or wait for that update.
How to access Novus Inceptio now
-
Visit the official Novus Inceptio site to check its current development status and follow the link to Steam.
-
On the Steam store page, check whether the game is available in your region, its current price, and what build is offered. The listing shows the game as Early Access and displays 5 October 2015 as its release date.
-
Read Steam’s Early Access notice before buying. Steam says these games are unfinished and may change, and the listing cautions that its published requirements may not be valid for the current version.

Novus Inceptio is back in active development.” Its Update 1 label still says “in development.” The developer blog’s latest entry listed when checked was dated 24 August 2026 and discussed ongoing gameplay decisions and world details; the checked pages give no Update 1 release date.

What kind of game to expect
Steam describes Novus Inceptio as a survival RPG set on a far-future Earth, with crafting, building, gathering resources, exploration, and character development at its center. Its store description frames survival needs as context: a new character arrives in the wilderness with a knife and basic tools, then looks for food and heat, learns recipes, and develops a home or farm. This summarizes the publisher’s description, not a verified guide to every mechanic in the current build.
It is currently described as single-player
The project began with an MMORPG plan, but the developer’s 30 May 2026 explanation says the current game is purely single-player, with no server or account and save data stored on disk. Do not expect the earlier MMO-style login model.
