There is no single best class in 99 Nights in the Forest: the right pick depends on whether you need early survival, combat, gathering, exploration, or co-op support. The roster and shop details below come from dated fan guides, not a confirmed live October 2026 list, so check the lobby shop for current stock, prices, and perks before spending Diamonds.
How the class system works
Classes provide distinct starting kits and perks, and class-specific progression can add further benefits. The 99 Nights Wiki catalog, updated August 15, 2026, says classes are bought with Diamonds through the lobby General Store or Classes button, may appear in a random daily selection, and have three levels. It also says leveling requirements vary by class and can be checked in-game. These are community-reported mechanics and can change; see the dated catalog for its snapshot.
The catalog reports that some leveling requirements can be skipped with Robux. A separate community tier guide reports a 24-hour shop refresh, a free first reroll, later rerolls costing 99 Robux, and skips costing 250 Robux for level 2 or 400 Robux for level 3. Treat these as reported, changeable details rather than guaranteed current prices; verify the displayed options in-game. The tier guide also reflects editorial rankings, not measured class performance.
Class roster and listed Diamond costs
The table reflects the 20 entries and prices shown in the 99 Nights Wiki catalog updated August 15, 2026. It is a dated snapshot, not proof that these are all classes currently available. Perks are concise summaries from that catalog; check their in-game wording and the shop price before choosing.

Why other class lists look different
Pocket Tactics’ guide dated April 24, 2026, describes 29 standard classes and lists seven event classes. Its broader snapshot includes names not present in the shorter August catalog, such as Alien, Feaster, Nightcrawler, Chef, Blacksmith, Poison Master, Fire Bandit, Beastmaster, Assassin, Cyborg, Gunslinger, Pyromaniac, Big Game Hunter, Necromancer, and Vampire. It names Trick or Treater, Witch, Santa’s Helper, Gifting Elf, Engineer, Egg Hunter, and Bunny as event classes. The two sources have different dates and roster scopes, so their lists should not be combined into a claim about the live roster. Read the April guide, then check what the game currently offers.
Which class should you choose?
These recommendations are role-based judgments, not results from controlled comparisons. Choose for the problem you want to solve, and account for what your teammates already cover.
Rank #2
- MYSTERY 2-PACK: Includes 2 mystery collectible plush characters from the hit game 99 Nights in the Forest.
- SERIES 1 PLUSH: Each plush stands 5.5” tall and is designed for collecting, displaying, and unboxing fun.
- FAN-FAVORITE LINEUP: Collect Deer, Hungry Deer, Ram, Owl, Bat, and Cat from Series 1.
- IN-GAME DLC CODES: Each plush includes a DLC code redeemable for added collector appeal.
- OFFICIALLY LICENSED: Genuine 99 Nights in the Forest merchandise by PhatMojo.
For a low-cost starting point: Camper
Both dated guides list Camper at 10 Diamonds and describe hunger and night-visibility benefits. Pocket Tactics’ wording for one hunger modifier appears inconsistent with descriptions of reduced hunger drain, so do not rely on an exact percentage without checking the live perk text. It is a modest-cost option if basic survival is your priority.
For co-op revives: Medic
Both sources list Medic at 40 Diamonds. Pocket Tactics says its level 1 perk makes revives five times faster and describes a later Medkit loadout. That makes Medic a straightforward support choice when keeping teammates alive is your job, not an automatic best class for solo play.

For a ranged starting kit: Ranger
Pocket Tactics’ April snapshot lists Ranger at 70 Diamonds and says it starts with a flashlight, revolver, and 18 rounds, with a chance to refund ammunition after leveling. Those equipment details belong to that dated guide; confirm the current kit and perk text in-game.
For gathering or strengthening camp: Lumberjack and Base Defender
The August catalog describes Lumberjack as providing bonus logs and Base Defender as providing defense blueprints and stronger defenses. They serve different jobs: consider Lumberjack when wood gathering is the bottleneck, or Base Defender when the team needs help setting up protection.
Rank #4
- Open-World Exploration
- The Challenge of Survival
- Crafting Your Existence
For roaming: Explorer
The August catalog lists Explorer for 80 Diamonds and summarizes its benefits as speed and a larger map radius. Pocket Tactics’ April guide adds map, sack-space, and fog-clearing speed details. The extra detail is from an older snapshot, so verify what the current class actually grants before buying it.
For advanced combat kits: compare the price with your goal
Pocket Tactics’ April guide describes Cyborg at 600 Diamonds with alien armor and a laser cannon, and Assassin at 500 Diamonds with a katana and throwing knives. These are examples from that guide’s snapshot, not confirmed current shop offers. Its high-tier recommendations are editorial opinion; a more expensive kit is not necessarily the best fit for a player who needs supplies, exploration, or team utility.

A practical way to pick
- Check the current shop. In the lobby, open the General Store or Classes menu and confirm the class is available, its Diamond cost, and its displayed perks.
- Name your run’s main need. Decide whether you need survival, revives, ranged equipment, resources, camp defense, or exploration.
- Compare role and price. Use the roster as a shortlist, not a universal ranking; a lower-cost class that addresses your actual bottleneck may be more useful than a premium combat kit.
- Read progression requirements. Class benefits may change as levels unlock, and requirements differ. Check the in-game progression screen before assuming a later perk will be quick or easy to reach.
- Coordinate in co-op. If teammates already cover a role, choose a class that fills a gap rather than duplicating the same specialty.
What is official and what is not
The official Roblox experience page identifies Grandma’s Favourite Games as the creator and describes the game as: “Build a camp with friends. Something is watching you. 99 Nights in the Forest.” The Roblox page does not document class mechanics, so roster, prices, and perk details above are attributed to fan guides and should be treated as changeable.
