10 Collectible PS1 Games and What They’re Worth

A guide’s approximate PS1 game values range from about $20 to $500+, but the right comparison depends on the exact release, region, completeness, and condition.

There is no verified, universal ranking of the rarest PlayStation games, and a game’s age or popularity alone does not determine its value. A May 11, 2026 guide from position:everything lists ten notable PS1 collectibles with approximate ranges of about $20 to $500+, but those figures are editorial estimates—not verified sold-price averages. The exact release, region, completeness, and condition of your copy can change its value substantially.

Ten notable PS1 collectibles and their estimated values

The following ranges are the estimates published by position:everything on May 11, 2026. The guide describes them as approximate collector-market ranges for commonly traded North American and Japanese releases. It does not provide a transaction sample or a calculation method, so use the figures as a starting point—not as confirmed current sale prices.

Game Guide’s approximate range What affects the estimate
Silent Hill About $60–$250 Region, completeness, and disc condition.
Resident Evil 2 About $40–$220 Edition and condition; exceptional complete copies may be higher.
Tekken 3 About $20–$180 Completeness and disc condition.
Gran Turismo 2 About $30–$170 The guide’s range is for complete-in-box (CIB) copies with discs in good condition; disc-only copies are usually lower.
Parasite Eve About $60–$250 Region and condition.
Chrono Cross About $70–$300 The guide describes this range for CIB copies in good condition; exceptional copies may exceed it.
The King of Fighters ’98: Dream Match Never Ends About $150–$500 Region, version, and condition.
Mega Man Legends About $60–$300 The guide refers to strong complete copies; disc-only copies are usually lower.
Resident Evil (original PS1) About $50–$250 Version, completeness, and disc condition.
PowerSlave / other limited-run late-era imports About $80–$400+ The exact edition, region, and condition matter; this entry covers a category as well as a named game.

These are not a ranked list: the guide does not supply production figures or a consistent rarity score. Its tenth entry is also not one specific release, so it cannot be treated as a directly comparable title price. A separate Play Then Sell PS1 price guide gives broader 2026 context—common games at $10–$25, popular franchises at $25–$60, and hard-to-find or cult classics at $60–$150+—but those are retailer-level category bands, not title-specific sale data.

Why a PS1 game’s value varies

Region and exact release

First identify whether the copy is NTSC-U (North America), PAL, or NTSC-J (Japan). Then check its title, edition, catalog or serial details, and label. A price for one regional release or pressing is not automatically a useful comparison for another.

Completeness and condition

Record whether the copy is sealed, CIB, includes the manual but not all inserts, or is disc-only. Note the disc’s condition as well as the state of the case, manual, and packaging. A clean complete copy and a loose disc are different comparisons, even when the game title is identical.

Demand is not the same as rarity

“Rare” can mean a low production run, limited or regional distribution, or fewer surviving copies with original inserts and clean discs. A desirable or expensive game is not necessarily the rarest by production count. Other lists include collector-interest titles such as Suikoden II, Valkyrie Profile, Tomba!, and Misadventures of Tron Bonne, illustrating how a selection changes with market, region, condition, and criteria. Neither the position:everything guide nor the retailer lists establish a universal top ten.

How to estimate what your copy is worth

  1. Identify the copy. Record the region, exact edition, catalog or serial details, label, and any version-specific packaging.
  2. Describe its completeness. Note whether it is sealed, CIB, manual-included, or disc-only, and list any missing inserts or other components.
  3. Assess condition. Check the disc, case, manual, and packaging separately. Do not assume a listing’s broad condition label describes every component.
  4. Compare recent sold listings. Look for the same regional version and a similar condition and completeness level. Exclude bundles and exceptional outliers, and distinguish completed sales from current asking prices.
  5. Estimate from comparable copies. The position:everything guide recommends separating sealed, CIB, manual-included, and disc-only sales and using the median of recent comparable sales. That is a suggested workflow, not a tested pricing rule.

For broad context, Play Then Sell also identifies completeness, disc state, label variant, rarity, and demand as factors in PS1 game prices. Its category-level guidance should not replace matching a specific release and condition.

What to check before buying or selling

For a valuable copy, verify that the components belong together rather than relying on a listing title alone. The position:everything guide flags label printing, whether the case and inserts match the release, and disc matrix or runout details as authenticity checks. Ask for clear photos and confirm the edition and return terms before relying on a seller’s description.

  • Match the region and edition to the listing or comparison.
  • Confirm whether the manual and inserts are included, not just the case and disc.
  • Inspect the label, disc, case, and packaging for consistency with that release.
  • Use sold listings as price evidence; treat an asking price as what a seller hopes to receive, not proof of value.
