It launched on June 10, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game is not a new Grand Theft Auto: it has its own story, setting, and mix of campaign and creator content.
1. What is MindsEye?
MindsEye is a third-person, single-player action-adventure thriller set in a near-future city. Its central story follows Jacob Diaz, a former soldier whose mysterious neural implant is linked to fragmented memories and a conspiracy involving powerful technology and institutions. Build A Rocket Boy’s official game site describes the game and its available platforms at MindsEye.

2. It has already launched
The game released on June 10, 2025. Steam lists that PC release date, and the official site lists PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S as platforms. The PC version is listed on Steam and the Epic Games Store through the official site.
3. Leslie Benzies is attached, but MindsEye is not GTA
Benzies is a prominent former Rockstar North executive associated with the Grand Theft Auto series. Build A Rocket Boy’s announcement presents MindsEye as his new action-adventure thriller and names the studio as its developer; that connection does not make the game a GTA sequel or establish that it shares the series’ structure, quality, or mechanics. 4. The story takes place in a technology-shaped desert city
Redrock is a fictional desert metropolis where advanced technology shapes everyday life. Jacob’s implant and missing or fragmented memories draw him into a conflict that, according to the official story description, involves rogue AI, corporate greed or corruption, and unchecked military power. These are elements of the game’s fiction, not claims about real organizations.
5. The campaign combines combat, driving, and a drone
The announced campaign is cinematic and third-person. Its gameplay ingredients include combat that uses cover, driving sequences, and a companion drone that can support Jacob. Those features give the campaign a broader action-adventure mix than a story built around shooting alone, but they do not establish how well each system works in play.

6. There is creator content alongside the story
The Steam listing describes tools for building missions, modes, and environments. Build A Rocket Boy has also discussed ARCADIA content and a Race Builder planned for console and PC. Its April 15, 2026 announcement covers the studio’s self-publishing move and its plans for MindsEye. A planned feature should not be assumed to have shipped: check the game’s current announcements for its availability.
7. The game has received post-launch patches
Build A Rocket Boy’s patch notes document revisions after launch. Update 4 lists user-interface changes, performance work, and bug fixes; Update 6.1 describes AI and animation enhancements alongside further fixes. These notes identify what the developer says it changed, but they are not independent testing and do not prove that every technical problem was resolved. 8. The publishing arrangement changed in 2026
On April 15, 2026, Build A Rocket Boy said it would self-publish MindsEye, giving the studio more direct control over publishing. The same announcement discussed BLACKLISTED and additional ARCADIA content. This is a confirmed change in the publishing arrangement; it is separate from later reports about the studio’s employment and future.

At the time of the October 4, 2026 information snapshot, Metacritic listed a 39/100 Metascore based on 16 critic reviews and a 2.7/10 user score based on 669 ratings. Steam showed 54% positive English-language reviews out of 1,634 reviews. These are separate, changeable measures with different scales and contributors, not directly comparable scores or a guarantee of an individual player’s experience. 10. Reports of a studio wind-down were not officially confirmed
Reports published on September 16, 2026, by Game Developer and PC Gamer described employee farewell posts and redundancies at Build A Rocket Boy. Both reports said the studio had not publicly confirmed a closure. The careful conclusion is that employees reported redundancies and outlets reported a possible wind-down—not that the studio was confirmed closed. That reported uncertainty is distinct from the studio’s April 2026, on-record announcement that it would self-publish the game.
