They unlock over time through story progress, quest chains, and safe-zone activation. PowerPyx reports that none are missable: unfinished quests remain available in post-story free roam. Use the checklist below to see what to finish and where to look next.
How side quests appear
Look for exclamation marks on the map and above quest givers. Some quests open after a main-story mission; others require completing an earlier quest in a chain or activating a safe zone. If a quest is not available yet, advance the story or finish the relevant chain, then check the map and return to the named location or NPC. The checklist follows PowerPyx’s numbered order; requirements not identified by the guides are left unspecified rather than inferred. PowerPyx’s side-quest checklist and All Things How’s unlock overview describe the markers and broad unlock patterns.

Quest chains and places worth revisiting
Follow the Killing Streak sequence
Complete the entries in order: Killing Streak, Volume Two, Volume Three, Volume Four, then Final. PowerPyx reports a day-or-two wait before each later radio contact from Doug, so a pause between installments does not by itself mean the chain has stopped progressing.
Check back during the Power Gambit portion
The Cable Guy, Dead Beats, Hydro-Puzzle, and Good Vibrations are tied to the Power Gambit portion of the game. The reported sequence for the two clearly linked chains is The Cable Guy → Dead Beats → Good Vibrations; Hydro-Puzzle is another Pietro quest, but the guides disagree about its immediate prerequisite.

Revisit safe zones and Exiles Cave
- After The Beast Within, First Blood, and Power Gambit, check Town Hall and Old Town for newly available markers.
- After activating Abandoned House Safe Zone, return to look for Max and Hunting Yaga.
- After activating Old Hideout Safe Zone, return for Brad and Beth and Trouble in Paradise.
- After the listed story missions, check Exiles Cave for quests from Amelia and Iris, Star Child, Selby, Liam and Jamie, or Jenna.
Are any side quests missable?
PowerPyx says none of the 20 checklist quests are missable and that they remain available in free roam after the story. Completing them as they open can still be useful if you want their XP rewards during the main campaign, rather than leaving the whole checklist for later.
Do Restored Land’s random encounters count as side quests?
No: keep them separate from the 20 named quests in the checklist. In its March 27, 2026 feature on the Restored Land update, Xbox Wire describes 36 new quest encounters that appear randomly along quest paths. Techland’s lead level designer describes these as short, self-contained environmental stories that players can observe, join, or interrupt. They are encounters along the journey, not additional entries in the guide-listed side-quest total. Techland’s game page describes Restored Land as a free upgrade for existing owners.

About the checklist
The total and detailed unlock conditions here come from gaming guides, not an official Techland quest checklist. PowerPyx provides the full numbered list; All Things How corroborates the count, map markers, major quest chains, and selected gates. Their Hydro-Puzzle prerequisite differs, as noted above. Quest names and some descriptions can also vary between guides.
