For an FM24 save using the 24.4 database, Ivan Fresneda, Rico Lewis and Michael Kayode are the strongest starting points for a young right-back signing. This is an editorial ranking, not an official in-game list: it balances the prospects’ roles, expected usefulness, versatility and development needs against the recommendations in FM24 guides published across different updates. Player ages, clubs, attributes and availability below refer to the game database, not their current real-world status.
How this FM24 ranking works
“Wonderkid” is a database-era label, not a promise of a fixed career outcome. FM Scout’s FM24 guide uses an early-preseason age ceiling of 20 and a potential-ability threshold of at least 150. It also explains that potential can be variable, so a player may have a range rather than one guaranteed ceiling in every save. Its right-full-back category contains 46 names in the 24.4 list, updated April 10, 2024. FM Scout’s rating is its author’s recommendation scale, not an official Football Manager score. FM Scout’s criteria and update notes
The rankings consulted differ in both date and method. FMBrotherhood published an eight-player list on October 25, 2023, based on a ten-season simulation of players aged 20 or younger at the start of FM24. Last Word on Gaming’s March 11, 2024 Winter Update guide ranked five players and named honorable mentions. Those are useful inputs, but neither establishes a definitive universal top twelve. This list synthesizes their recommendations and the broader 24.4 candidate pool; it is an editorial recommendation, not an independently simulated result. The 12 best right-back wonderkids in FM24
1. Ivan Fresneda
Fresneda leads this ranking as the most compelling all-round defensive prospect in FMBrotherhood’s simulation-based assessment. That guide highlights his pace and defensive attributes, making him the clearest choice here if your priority is a right-back who can defend space as well as develop into a first-team option. His simulated future is not a guarantee for every save.

2. Rico Lewis
Lewis ranks highly in both the October 2023 and March 2024 guides. His standout editorial advantage is versatility: FMBrotherhood notes that he can cover defensive or central midfield, which may make it easier to find him minutes while he develops. Choose him when squad flexibility matters as much as a specialist right-back profile.
3. Michael Kayode
Kayode tops Last Word on Gaming’s Winter Update ranking and places third in FMBrotherhood’s earlier list. The latter guide emphasizes physical strength for his age, work rate and crossing. Those traits point toward an energetic, forward-supporting full-back, though the right role depends on the rest of your system and the attributes in your save’s database.

4. Tino Livramento
Livramento appears fourth in the Winter Update top five. That makes him a prominent option in the later guide, though the sources consulted do not provide the same detailed role or development assessment for him as they do for the top three here. Check his in-save profile and suitability for your tactical instructions before treating the ranking as a reason to bid.
5. Conor Bradley
Bradley is another Winter Update top-five pick. The available guide supports his place among the leading candidates, but does not establish a universal role, price or development outcome. Compare the player’s actual in-game strengths with your right-back duties rather than assuming the ranking translates into an ideal fit.

6. Héctor Fort
Fort was 16 in FMBrotherhood’s FM24 guide. Its simulation write-up highlights positioning, marking and anticipation, attributes that favor a more defense-minded development path. He is a particularly young prospect in that source’s context, so the recommendation is about long-term potential rather than an assumption that he is ready for immediate senior minutes.
7. Elias Jelert
Jelert ranks fifth in FMBrotherhood’s list, which describes him as capable of contributing earlier than several younger prospects. That guide also notes forward movement and inside-cutting traits. Consider him if you want a right-sided defender whose movement can support attacking patterns, and assess whether your system has cover when he advances.
8. Filippo Missori
Missori rounds out Last Word on Gaming’s Winter Update top five. His inclusion reflects that guide’s later database context; the consulted material does not give enough detail to claim a particular tactical role or signing cost. Use the in-game attributes and scout report to decide whether he suits your team’s level and development plan.
9. Reuell Walters
Walters places sixth in FMBrotherhood’s ranking, which values his ability to cover several defensive positions. The same guide identifies defensive development as an area to work on. His flexibility can help with squad depth, but do not overlook the specific defensive requirements of the role you intend him to play.

10. Kyriani Sabbe
FMBrotherhood’s seventh-ranked pick is noted for passing, teamwork and pace, while work rate and determination are identified as development concerns. That profile makes him a candidate to assess for a possession-oriented or mobile right side, provided his attributes in your save support the job you need.
11. Diogo Travassos
Travassos comes eighth in FMBrotherhood’s guide. It highlights his versatility across the right flank and describes him as inexpensive in that source’s game context, while also noting physical limitations. Treat the affordability claim as specific to that guide’s database and save circumstances, not a reliable fee quote for every career.
12. Martim Fernandes
Fernandes is among Last Word on Gaming’s Winter Update honorable mentions, giving him a place in this wider editorial shortlist. The source does not provide the detailed assessment needed to rank him above the players listed earlier. He is worth checking when the top options do not fit your budget, squad plan or tactical needs, but verify his database profile rather than relying on a general label.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Choosing the right prospect for your save
- Need defensive security: Start by comparing Fresneda’s defensive profile with Fort’s positioning, marking and anticipation notes. Their in-game attributes and readiness in your save should decide the choice.
- Need versatility: Lewis is the clearest option in the consulted descriptions because he can cover defensive or central midfield. Walters is also noted for covering multiple defensive positions.
- Want attacking support: Kayode’s work rate and crossing, and Jelert’s forward movement and inside-cutting traits, are useful indicators to investigate in their player profiles.
- Need a prospect who may contribute sooner: FMBrotherhood specifically describes Jelert as able to contribute earlier than several younger prospects. That is a source assessment, not a minutes guarantee.
- Budget is decisive: The only explicit affordability note here is FMBrotherhood’s save-context description of Travassos. Check your own save’s asking price, contract and squad registration before committing.
Potential alone is not a recruitment plan. Compare the player’s present ability with your squad, decide how many minutes you can offer, and identify the areas your coaches should develop. If a prospect cannot play regularly, consider whether a loan or a slower progression path makes more sense for your club.
Why FM24 update context matters
The October 2023 FMBrotherhood ranking and March 2024 Winter Update ranking are snapshots from different points in FM24’s update cycle; FM Scout’s relevant list was updated April 10, 2024 for patch 24.4. They do not form a single matched comparison. In particular, ages shown in a database list refer to the game’s reference point and can differ from a player’s age on the article’s publication date. For an actual signing decision, use one database version consistently and inspect the player in your save: attributes, development and availability are contextual, not timeless real-world scouting facts.
