Pokémon Unbound is the clearest supported choice for extensive post-game content. Pokémon Glazed and Pokémon Radical Red are worth considering with qualifications, but the available project information does not support a reliable list of eight ROM hacks with comparably substantial post-game content. Pokémon Insurgence has a robust endgame, but it is a standalone fangame—not a ROM hack.
Which Pokémon ROM hacks have substantial post-game content?
Based on the available project documentation, Pokémon Unbound is the strongest match for players seeking meaningful activity after the main story. Glazed is a promising exploration-focused option, while Radical Red is better approached as a difficult battle challenge with some post-game events—not as a confirmed, story-rich endgame.

| Game | What is established about its post-game | Best fit | Evidence strength |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pokémon Unbound | The creator describes significant post-game content after the main campaign. A feature wiki documents 80+ missions across the game, with some unlocking post-game content, as well as post-game Z-Crystals and New Game+. | Players who want quests, collection goals, exploration, and another run | Strongest of these candidates; creator statement and feature documentation |
| Pokémon Glazed | A secondary roundup reports that beating the Tunod League opens a reimagined Johto region, followed by the Rankor Islands. Primary confirmation of the release state and progression is not established here. | Players drawn to continued regional exploration after the League | Promising, but based on secondary reporting |
| Pokémon Radical Red | The project thread describes play through the first Elite Four challenge along with some post-game events. A secondary roundup reports additional Sevii Islands content and Legendary encounters. | Players who prioritize demanding team-building and battles | Some post-game is documented; its full scope is not established |
Pokémon Unbound: the strongest-supported pick
Unbound’s creator, Skeli, says that “Once you clear the main campaign, there is also a significant amount of post-game content to enjoy for weeks to come.” That is unusually direct evidence that the game’s extra content follows the main campaign rather than merely expanding the main story.
A feature wiki lists more than 80 missions, but that number covers missions across the game; it does not mean every mission is post-game. The wiki says some missions unlock new areas and post-game content. It also describes post-game Z-Crystals made available through Gym Leader rematches and a New Game+ feature.

#1 Best Overall
The wiki identifies version 2.1.1.1 as completed and dates that version page November 8, 2022. That is a dated reference, not confirmation that 2.1.1.1 is the latest version now.
Pokémon Glazed: a promising exploration-focused option
A December 27, 2025 secondary roundup reports that defeating the Tunod League opens a reimagined Johto region with new characters and storylines, followed by the Rankor Islands. That progression sounds like a substantial reason to continue after the League, but the project’s own current documentation was not established here. Treat the reported sequence as a lead to verify against the version you intend to play, not a settled account of the latest release.
Glazed is a better candidate for players interested in regions and story exploration than for anyone looking for a documented endgame checklist. A separate list describes it as spanning three regions, but multiple regions alone do not show which areas or activities occur after the main game.
Pokémon Radical Red: post-game events for battle-focused players
The Radical Red project thread describes a FireRed ROM hack playable through the first Elite Four challenge “along with some post-game events.” A secondary roundup additionally reports Sevii Islands content and Legendary encounters as post-game expansion.
This supports considering Radical Red if you want a demanding battle-oriented game with some activity beyond the main challenge. It does not establish an extensive, quest-driven post-game on the same evidentiary footing as Unbound. The cited project description also does not establish the full scope of the current release’s post-game.

Why Pokémon Insurgence is not one of the ROM-hack picks
Insurgence is a relevant comparison for players willing to consider Pokémon fan games, but it should not be counted as a ROM hack. Its FAQ says it was made independently with RPG Maker XP and Pokémon Essentials. The project’s official site describes an extensive endgame with quests and locations to explore, while its community guide places a Battle Frontier and multiple quest arcs after the Pokémon League.
Those features make Insurgence an appealing separate option for someone whose real priority is endgame content rather than a particular game format. Its classification matters, though: a standalone fangame is not a patched Pokémon ROM.
Why this is not a reliable “best eight” list
The evidence available for this topic supports one clear ROM-hack recommendation, two qualified candidates, and a separate fangame comparison—not eight confident entries. A game having multiple regions, a long story, or additional battles does not by itself establish that it has extensive content after the main story. For example, available claims about Light Platinum’s regions and World Championship arc, and Flora Sky’s regions and original story, do not establish the timing or depth of their post-game content.

Reborn and Infinity appear in coverage of substantial post-game features, but their classification as ROM hacks is not established here. Pokémon Gaia is also not a supported pick: the surfaced PokéCommunity thread described the release as having no post-game and mentioned a future version as planned.
How to choose—and approach a ROM hack
- Choose Unbound if you want the best-supported mix of post-story missions, unlockable areas, rematches, collection goals, and a fresh-run option.
- Consider Glazed if post-League regional exploration appeals to you, while checking the project’s own information for the release you plan to use.
- Consider Radical Red if challenging battles are the priority and you are comfortable with the post-game being described only as some events, rather than as a fully established broad endgame.
- Include Insurgence only under a separate fangame category if you care more about endgame quests than ROM-hack format.
For setup, follow the relevant project’s authorized patching instructions. A patch is distinct from the original game file it modifies; this article does not provide ROM downloads or establish the legality of any particular file source. Check the laws that apply where you live and the project’s instructions before proceeding.
