Choose based on the Archetypes and skills you expect to use, then consider Endurance, Agility, and Luck as secondary stats. There is no established universal ratio that is best for every build.
How to choose your main stat
When you level the protagonist, you can allocate points among Strength, Magic, Endurance, Agility, and Luck. The most useful first decision is which kind of offense you want to specialize in—not whether to spread points evenly across all five stats.

Choose Strength for physical offense
If you plan to favor physical attacks, prioritize Strength. Game8 pairs a Strength focus with the Brawler Archetype as one example of how to align stat allocation with a build: Game8’s protagonist build guide.
Choose Magic for magic offense
If you expect to rely on magic-oriented skills, prioritize Magic. Game8 gives Mage as an example Archetype for a Magic-focused protagonist: Game8’s protagonist build guide.

What the other stats contribute
Once you have a main offensive stat in mind, use the secondary stats to support the way you want the protagonist to fight. The descriptions below are broad guidance, not a precise formula for how much each point changes combat outcomes.

- Endurance: A defensive stat described as helping against both physical and magical damage. It may suit a build where staying power matters to you.
- Agility: A secondary combat stat with multiple effects. Its value depends on your build and situation; it is not simply another damage stat.
- Luck: Relevant to effects such as inflicting status and obtaining drops. The available guidance does not establish that Luck should take priority over your chosen offensive stat.
For stat descriptions and gameplay context, see Gamer Guides’ Metaphor: ReFantazio stats guide.
Why your Archetype matters
Stat points are only one part of a character build. ATLUS describes Archetypes as the source of battle power, so consider your planned Archetypes and skills alongside your stat allocation rather than treating the protagonist’s points as the sole determinant of combat performance. See ATLUS’s official Metaphor: ReFantazio page.

Should you spread points evenly or save them?
A focused Strength or Magic investment is a practical starting point if you already know your preferred play style. You can still make secondary investments in the other stats to suit that style; the available guides do not establish one fixed distribution that every player should follow.
A player discussion reports that unspent protagonist points can be held and allocated later. Because this is community-reported rather than an official confirmation, check the allocation menu in your own game before relying on it: the community discussion.
Is there a mathematically best allocation?
The cited guides support the broad Strength-versus-Magic choice and the roles of the secondary stats, but they do not establish a universally optimal ratio, numeric cap, or level-by-level plan. Your best allocation depends on the Archetypes and skills you plan to use, so treat specific point distributions as build choices rather than proven rules.
