Important version caveat: The requirements below describe the Legacy Paths ruleset documented by PC Gamer, not a verified current-build checklist. Firaxis later announced that its Test of Time redesign would replace Legacy Paths with Triumphs, but the sources available through Civilization Support’s April 16, 2026 patch notes do not confirm whether that redesign has reached the public build. Check the in-game Age Progress or Legacy Paths screen for the rules on your platform and build.
How Legacy Paths work in the documented ruleset
The ruleset described by PC Gamer has four Legacy Paths in each Age: Cultural, Military, Science, and Economic. Completing milestones earns Legacy Points. In Antiquity and Exploration, those points can be redeemed for bonuses that carry into the next Age; in Modern, completing a path unlocks a special project that can end the game.
That guide also describes other victory routes in the same ruleset, including conquest, Operation Ivy, the World’s Fair, Staffed Space Flight, and World Bank branches. If none of those routes is completed by the end of the Modern Age, the leader with the most Legacy Points wins. Treat these as ruleset-specific mechanics, not confirmation of how a later redesign works.
Antiquity Age Legacy Path requirements
The following thresholds and reward details are reported by PC Gamer; they have not been independently verified against a current in-game build.

Exploration Age Legacy Path requirements
These thresholds and mechanics are also reported by PC Gamer. Treasure Convoy rules were later adjusted in Civilization VII’s June 23, 2025 official patch notes, so check the in-game path screen rather than relying on older prerequisite instructions.

Treasure Convoy prerequisite change
The official June 23, 2025 patch notes say that any Distant Lands Settlement with improved Treasure Resources generates Treasure Convoys. Under that change, coastal access, a Fishing Quay, and Shipbuilding are not required for convoy generation. The notes use “Treasure Convoys,” while the older guide calls the path milestones “Treasure Fleets.”

Modern Age Legacy Path requirements
PC Gamer’s guide excerpt provides thresholds for the Economic and Military paths below, but does not give the Cultural or Science thresholds. The missing values are not established here; check the in-game screen rather than inferring them from another path.

What Firaxis announced about replacing Legacy Paths
Firaxis announced that its Test of Time redesign would remove Legacy Paths and replace them with Triumphs. The announcement describes Triumphs as optional objectives tied to six Attributes—Militaristic, Cultural, Scientific, Economic, Diplomatic, and Expansionist—that grant an immediate empire bonus or a card for the next Age. Firaxis said the timing and functionality could change during playtesting.

Civilization Support’s April 16, 2026 patch notes describe a small patch and say a much larger update was in the works. Those notes do not establish the redesign’s public release date or platform rollout. Because the later public-build status is not confirmed by those sources, the Legacy Path tables above should be used only if the game’s own Age Progress screen shows that ruleset.
