“Farm T17 maps” can mean two different things: earning T17 map drops by running lower-tier maps, or farming loot inside T17 maps. Those goals call for different approaches. For Path of Exile 3.29, the available evidence does not establish a proven best Atlas tree, scarab setup, or currency return for either goal, so choose based on your target, budget, build, and tolerance for risk—not an unverified profit claim.
First decide what you want to farm
- More T17 maps: focus on generating T17 drops from lower-tier content. Your measure of success is how reliably the setup supplies maps you can run.
- More rewards from T17 runs: focus on the loot you want inside T17s, such as currency, scarabs, or maps. Your measure is net value after entry costs, adjusted for failures and time.
These are not interchangeable goals. A setup that generates maps is not automatically the most rewarding way to run them, and a high-reward T17 setup does not necessarily sustain its own map supply.
How to choose a T17 strategy in 3.29
There is no evidence-backed universal best strategy. Farm of Exile’s roundup, updated September 16, 2026, frames farm selection around setup cost, profit per hour, difficulty, and complexity; its broader farm rankings are not a T17-specific leaderboard. Apply those criteria to your own character and goal:
- Entry cost and working capital: account for the maps and any consumables you use, and make sure you can afford several runs rather than relying on a single lucky result.
- Clearability and risk: a theoretical high-return map is a poor fit if its modifiers regularly brick your build or lead to deaths and failed runs.
- Net return evidence: compare rewards after costs, and only trust a rate when the source gives a date, sample size, and reproducible setup. No current 3.29 T17 benchmark meeting that standard is established here.
- Setup burden: include Atlas changes, scarab sourcing, map preparation, and time spent rolling maps—not just time inside them.
If your goal is to acquire T17 maps
A historical guide describes running 8-mod corrupted T16 maps as a way to generate T17 drops. Treat that as an example of the lower-tier-to-T17 route, not a verified 3.29 recipe: the guide is version-bound, and the available current evidence does not confirm its results or exact setup for this league.
#1 Best Overall
In practice, judge an acquisition setup by whether it produces maps your character can actually run, how much it costs to sustain, and how much preparation it requires. Do not assume that an older corruption or map-selection recommendation still gives the best results after balance and modifier-pool changes.
If your goal is loot from T17 maps
Older community advice suggests rolling T17 maps toward rewards such as scarabs, currency, or map drops. That guidance is also version-specific; its thresholds should not be copied as current instructions. In 3.29, no reproducible source establishes an optimal T17 map, Atlas allocation, or scarab combination.

A current-league community post dated August 3, 2026 mentions trying T17 scarab farming and T16.5 mapping, but supplies neither a comparable sample nor enough setup detail to verify or rank either approach. It is not a dependable basis for a profit estimate or a recommendation.

T17 modifier behavior has changed over time. Grinding Gear Games’ 3.25.1 patch notes document changes to several T17 modifiers, including removal of some restrictive rolls and the addition of a leech-related modifier. Those are historical notes, not a description of the 3.29 pool.

The 3.26.0e preview also records fixes for particular cases where Originator-influenced maps could fail to receive T17 modifiers during rerolls or with an Atlas Keystone. This is evidence that generation behavior has received version-specific fixes; it does not establish that the same behavior or modifier rules apply unchanged in 3.29.
Before committing currency to map rolling, check the current patch notes and the map’s actual modifiers. Avoid rolls your build cannot handle, and do not use old guides’ modifier thresholds as if they were current.

A practical decision checklist
- Set the target: decide whether you need a sustainable T17 supply or rewards from T17 runs.
- Set a spending limit: count map and consumable costs, then choose a run size you can afford without depending on a lucky drop.
- Screen for build compatibility: identify map modifiers that make your character unreliable or unable to complete the map.
- Choose a manageable setup: include Atlas respecs, scarab sourcing, rolling time, and other preparation in the cost of the farm.
- Track your own results: record the date, maps and consumables used, completed and failed runs, time, and rewards after costs. A small personal sample can help you decide whether to continue, but it is not a universal benchmark.
