Cookie Clicker is an incremental idle game about making cookies, spending them on production, and building up a growing collection of upgrades and achievements. It began as a browser game in 2013 and is officially available in the browser, on Steam, and as an Android app.
What is Cookie Clicker?
Cookie Clicker is a game about turning a small supply of cookies into a much larger one. You collect cookies, then spend them on cookie-producing units—including Grandmas, Farms, Factories, and Portals—which generate more cookies to reinvest. The Steam listing describes it simply as “An idle game about making cookies!”
As production grows, the game opens up more upgrades, achievements, and other features. Steam currently advertises over 600 upgrades and over 500 achievements; those are live storefront counts and may change as the game is updated. Its official feature list also mentions mini-games and permanent upgrades unlocked through heavenly progress.

Is Cookie Clicker on Steam?
Yes. The Steam edition launched on September 1, 2021. Steam names Orteil and DashNet as developers and Playsaurus as publisher. In addition to the core cookie-production loop, the listing documents cloud saving, Steam achievements, Workshop mods, mini-games, and heavenly permanent upgrades. The listing’s upgrade and achievement totals are advertised as “over” 600 and “over” 500, respectively, and can change over time.
Does Cookie Clicker keep running when my phone is closed?
The official Android listing says the game continues while the phone is closed. That statement applies to the Android app; it should not be treated as a guarantee about how every browser or desktop version behaves.

Does Cookie Clicker have an ending?
Cookie Clicker is built around open-ended accumulation and unlocking more content. The official listings consulted describe its loop and features but do not establish a definitive ending, so there is no supported single endpoint to point to.
