The date was announced after the project’s revival, and the game launched on schedule—but it launched as an unfinished, actively developed game, not a finished release.
Did Hytale launch yet?
Yes. Hytale launched into Early Access on January 13, 2026. The team announced that date on November 28, 2025, and confirmed the release in its January 13 launch post.
The studio described the release as “unpolished and incomplete” and said players should expect bugs. Hytale’s official store continues to identify it as an Early Access game in active development, with changes and bugs to expect. Early Access is not a promise of a particular number of months: the official Early Access FAQ says it will continue until the game feels polished and ready for release.
How Hytale went from a planned shutdown to Early Access
- June 23, 2025: Development was announced to be ending, with Hypixel Studios set to wind down. The later reacquisition announcement gives this date retrospectively.
- November 17, 2025: Hytale’s original founders announced they had reacquired the game from Riot Games. The studio said more than 30 developers had been rehired, with additional returns expected, and that the founders were personally committing funding for ten years. These were the studio’s statements at the time, not independently verified guarantees of future staffing or funding.
- November 28, 2025: The team announced the January 13, 2026 Early Access date. It said development had returned to a four-year-old legacy build after leaving a newer engine effort, and that more than 300 GitHub branches had been merged into one working branch. These figures and descriptions are the studio’s account of its process.
- January 13, 2026: Hytale launched into Early Access.
The reacquisition and shutdown timeline are described in the founders’ November 17 announcement; the date and build details appear in the November 28 Early Access announcement.

What was included at launch—and what was not
The launch post described a starting set of activities, while explicitly listing major features that were still absent. This is a snapshot of the game on January 13, 2026, not a description of everything available in October 2026.
| At launch | Not yet included at launch |
|---|---|
| Exploration | Adventure Mode |
| Creative | Official minigames |
| Modding | The complete restored Orbis world generation |
| Multiplayer | Social features |
Those launch-day inclusions and omissions come from the official release announcement. The studio’s news index lists a July 16, 2026 discussion by Game Director and founder Simon about Chapter 1 and work since Early Access, but that listing alone does not establish the full feature set available now: Hytale news.

What to know before joining Early Access
- Expect an unfinished game. The developers warned that bugs were expected and that features were missing. In the November date announcement, founder Simon Collins-Laflamme wrote, “If you don’t feel comfortable pre-ordering, please don’t.”
- Check the official store for current details. It is the cited purchase route and links to system requirements. The Starter Edition was listed at $19.99 USD at launch, but that is a historical launch price, not a verified current price.
- Do not assume a fixed end date. The FAQ gives a readiness-based description of Early Access rather than a scheduled full-release date.
