AFK Journey’s Song of Strife season took players to the Ashen Waste and added a broad package of seasonal modes and progression systems—not just a new desert map. It launched in version 1.1.14 on May 9, 2024. Later, version 1.2.1 preserved access to the story through Peaks of Time but retired Song of Strife’s seasonal progression.
What Song of Strife added
The version 1.1.14 patch notes describe Song of Strife as a substantial seasonal update. Its new map and main quest were accompanied by modes, equipment, and progression systems tied to the season.

- Season AFK Stages and a Season Dream Realm with six bosses: four original bosses and two new ones.
- Season Legend Trial, featuring four towers.
- Season Resonance Level, Season Skills, and Season Equipment.
- Six Season Artifacts and Magic Charms.
- Supreme Arena, Dura’s Trials, and a Season Growth Path.
The notes recommended raising all class equipment pieces to level 240 before entering the map, to get the best experience from the new season equipment. This was launch-era guidance, not confirmation of a current account requirement.
Map, rankings, and other patch changes
The season’s main quest began in Holistone and led into the Ashen Waste. The update also shifted some rankings from server-based to district-based and added Desolate Grounds as a Battle Drills battlefield.

Who could enter at launch?
The May 9, 2024 version 1.1.14 notes said Song of Strife would become available on servers that had been active for 42 days. Players also needed Resonance Level 240, all AFK Stages cleared, and completion of The Last Leg. The main quest could then be picked up in Holistone.
Those are the conditions recorded for the season’s original launch. They should not be treated as instructions for accessing the story now: a later update changed how players who missed the season could reach it.

What changed when Song of Strife ended?
In version 1.2.1, dated September 19, 2024, AFK Journey introduced the Waves of Intrigue season and added Peaks of Time. The notes said players who had missed Song of Strife could access its story mode through Peaks of Time after completing The Last Leg. Players could collect map resources during the storyline, and those who had already played Song of Strife retained their prior progress.
The distinction matters: the later update brought back access to the story, not the full original season. Version 1.2.1 said Song of Strife progression features were no longer available in the new season. Its seasonal systems should therefore be understood as part of the original run, rather than as an ongoing progression track.

How to understand the update
Song of Strife moved AFK Journey into the Ashen Waste while adding a temporary layer of modes and character progression. The version 1.1.14 notes closed with: “That’s all for 1.1.14 Patch Notes, and see you in Ashen Waste!” The later Peaks of Time access kept the season’s story available to players who had missed it, while separating that replay from its retired progression features.
The available patch notes establish Song of Strife’s launch features and its transition into story replay. They do not provide a full side-by-side account of how it compares with every later season.
