Yes. Warner Bros. Games canceled Monolith Productions’ Wonder Woman game on February 25, 2025, saying development “will not move forward.” The company said its strategic priorities no longer allowed it to deliver the high-quality experience it wanted for the character. Monolith was closed as part of the same restructuring.
What happened to the Wonder Woman game?
Warner Bros. Games announced that the game would not move forward on February 25, 2025. Reuters reported that the decision came alongside the closure of Monolith Productions, the studio developing it. Warner Bros. also closed Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games San Diego. The company described the changes as a strategic shift, not a judgment on the affected teams or their talent.
This was a cancellation, not an announced delay. No released edition of this specific game is identified in the reports, so there is no game to buy or play.
What Warner Bros. said about the cancellation
In a statement reproduced by Gematsu, Warner Bros. Games said: “The development of Monolith’s Wonder Woman video game will not move forward.” It added that its hope had been to give players and fans the highest-quality experience possible for the character, “and unfortunately this is no longer possible within our strategic priorities.”

The company’s explanation places the decision within its priorities and wider restructuring; it does not identify one specific development problem as the cause. Reuters described the broader effort as a push to return the games business to profitability, with investment focused on franchises including Harry Potter, Mortal Kombat, DC and Game of Thrones. That portfolio context is not proof that any single game or person caused this cancellation.
What the game was supposed to be
Warner Bros. announced the project in December 2021 as a single-player, open-world action game. Its planned original DC Universe story would put players in the role of Diana of Themyscira, fighting to unite her Amazon family and the people of the modern world. Variety reproduced the original description.

That announcement described an intended concept, not a finished design or a promise of a particular release date. The game was later canceled before release.
What reporting says about the years in development
The public timeline runs from the December 2021 announcement to cancellation in February 2025, but it should not be read as proof that the project sat idle for that entire period. The Los Angeles Times, reporting by Jason Schreier, said the game was rebooted and changed directors in early 2024. The same report said it was still years from release.

The Times also reported that the project had cost more than $100 million, citing unnamed people familiar with it. Warner Bros. did not confirm that amount publicly. It is a reported estimate, not an audited or official figure, and the available reporting does not establish a full project budget or explain how costs accumulated.

Reuters reported that Warner Bros. Games unit chief David Haddad’s departure had been announced the previous month, after a 12-year tenure. In a staff memo quoted by the Los Angeles Times, JB Perrette, described as head of games and streaming, said that “the quality of too many of our new releases has really missed the mark.” He also wrote that the company needed substantial changes to its portfolio and team structure to commit resources to a “fewer but bigger franchises” strategy.
