Minecraft fans have uncovered a texture atlas containing most of the textures used in Mojang’s trailers—but the find is not a complete resource pack released or endorsed by Mojang. The atlas was reportedly visible in the 3D background of Merl, the chatbot on Minecraft’s help site. Community members later used extracted textures to make fan projects.
What Minecraft fans found
A Reddit user reported that Merl’s 3D background included a texture atlas with most of the trailer textures Mojang uses. The original post said the atlas could be downloaded from a wiki upload, but turning it into a usable pack required someone to copy and organize the images. The author said no ready-to-use pack was available at the time of the post. The Reddit discussion documents the reported discovery and the initial community response.
That distinction matters: an atlas is an image containing texture tiles, not necessarily a finished, installable resource pack. A later Modrinth listing describes a community project built from textures extracted from Merl’s background. It does not establish that Mojang published or supports an official pack. The Modrinth listing also states that the project is not an official Minecraft service and is not approved by or associated with Mojang or Microsoft.
Does the atlas contain every trailer texture?
No. The original finder described it as containing “most” of the trailer textures, and a December 15, 2025 account of the discovery likewise notes that some game textures do not have equivalents in the Bare Bones style. The evidence supports a substantial collection, not a complete library of every texture seen in every Minecraft trailer. A December 15, 2025 article recounts the discovery.

Is there a resource pack you can use?
There are community-made options, but check each project’s current status, Minecraft edition, and game-version compatibility before downloading. Listings can change, and a pack that aims for the trailer look is not necessarily built from the Merl atlas.

Why an atlas is not automatically installable
For Bedrock Edition, Microsoft describes a resource pack as a folder structure for custom content such as textures, models, and sounds; a manifest file is required for the game to load it. Packs that provide the same named content can override one another according to load order. Those are general Bedrock resource-pack rules, not tested installation instructions for a specific atlas-derived project. See Microsoft’s Bedrock resource-pack documentation.

In practical terms, extracting an atlas may involve separating tiles, organizing files into the expected structure, and supplying the metadata the target edition requires. The Reddit author’s note that someone still had to copy and organize the textures is why the discovery and a finished downloadable pack should not be treated as the same thing.

The available evidence does not show a Mojang announcement or release of an official trailer resource pack. Minecraft Feedback pages show that users submitted requests for an official trailer-style pack in 2023 and 2024, but feature requests are suggestions, not confirmation that Mojang adopted them. So, if by “official” you mean textures originating in Mojang trailer imagery, the Merl find reportedly exposes many of them. If you mean a complete, install-ready pack officially released or supported by Mojang, that is not established. The available packs are fan projects, and their own listings—not the word “official” in a project name—are the right place to verify current compatibility and disclosures.
