The official guidance covers cross-platform linking, not a general restart. If you want to carry an existing character to another platform, link accounts before creating a character there. If both platform accounts already have characters—or you need an unlink—contact Where Winds Meet Customer Support.
First, identify what you mean by “start over”
| Your goal | What the official guidance says | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Continue an existing character on another platform | Cross-progression is supported among Steam, Epic Games, the official PC launcher, and PlayStation. | Link the accounts before creating a character on the destination platform. Follow the steps for that platform in the official Cross-Progression Account Linking Guide. |
| Link accounts when both already have characters | The guide says linking “will NOT be possible” if both accounts already have an existing character. | Contact Customer Support at [email protected]. The guide points players with this conflict to support; it does not guarantee deletion or a restart. |
| Delete a character or restart on the same account | The current official sources cited here do not confirm a general self-service reset, additional character slots, or platform-specific reset rules. | Ask Customer Support to confirm what is possible for your account before taking action. |
| Unlink accounts that are already connected | The guide says manual unlinking is unavailable for security reasons. | Contact Customer Support if you need an unlink. |
How to bring an existing character to another platform
Where Winds Meet’s official guide, dated November 10, 2025, says to link the accounts before creating a character on the platform you are moving to. The guide covers Steam, Epic Games, the official PC launcher, and PlayStation; use its platform-specific instructions because the menus differ.

- Open the game on the destination platform, but do not create a character there yet.
- From the title screen or the in-game User Center, open the account-linking option described for your platform in the official guide.
- Link the account that holds your existing character, following the guide’s prompts.
If you have already created a character on both accounts, the guide says the accounts cannot be linked in that state. Contact support rather than attempting to delete local game files or unlink accounts yourself.
Steam, PS5, and the PC launcher: does the reset rule change?
The official guide describes cross-progression across Steam, Epic Games, the official PC launcher, and PlayStation. The sources available do not establish different general character-deletion or restart rules for Steam, PS5, or the PC launcher. In particular, deleting local console data is not established as a way to reset server-side account or character data.

Older launch-period community posts are not a reliable substitute for current official policy. The official documentation cited here explains linking and unlinking, but does not settle current character-deletion or extra-slot rules. Confirm any proposed reset with Customer Support before deleting local data or changing account links.
