How this ranking works
The Evolution’s upgrades favor a player who can use the boosts to become a more complete attacker, while its added Technical and Trickster traits make existing skills and PlayStyles relevant. I weigh the published recommendations against five practical factors: fit with the upgrade caps, existing PlayStyles and PlayStyle+ traits, Skill Moves and Weak Foot, role or position versatility, and how well the item suits your squad. No cited source reports controlled gameplay testing, so the order is a reasoned shortlist rather than a universal meta verdict.
The 9 best players for A Star Is Born
1. Cesinha — best all-around choice
FUT.GG places Cesinha first, citing his five-star Skill Moves and Weak Foot, Power Shot, and CAM Shadow Striker Role+. Those traits give him a flexible attacking profile: the Evolution’s dribbling and shooting boosts can support a player who can threaten from multiple angles, while the five-star ratings avoid an obvious skill or finishing-side limitation. Choose him if you want the most balanced recommendation in the published top five. FUT.GG’s Cesinha recommendation

2. Jamie Leweling — tall winger or second striker
FUT.GG highlights Leweling’s 6’1″ height, pace and dribbling, plus RM Inside Forward Role+. That makes him the contrasting choice to a smaller, more intricate dribbler: use him if you want a winger who can carry the ball while offering a more physical presence, or if you plan to move him into a supporting attacking role. The height is a player characteristic, not a claim that he outperforms other candidates in testing. FUT.GG’s Leweling recommendation
3. Yankuba Minteh — pace and Quick Step+
Minteh is the clearest pick if acceleration and direct runs matter most to your play style. FUT.GG calls him a fast silver option for RW Inside Forward play and points to his existing Quick Step+. The Evolution’s pace boost can complement that profile, while its Technical and Trickster additions give you more ways to attack defenders. Pick him when you want a direct right-sided threat rather than the broadest all-around profile. FUT.GG’s Minteh recommendation
Rank #2
4. Nani — five-star skills and links
FUT.GG recommends Nani for five-star Skill Moves and Weak Foot, his passing and dribbling, and Grassroot Greats chemistry links. He suits a player who values technical variety and wants the Evolution to fit an existing themed squad. Before committing, check the exact item’s eligibility and the chemistry links in your club; a strong published candidate is not automatically the best choice for every squad. FUT.GG’s Nani recommendation
5. Daizen Maeda — versatile Inside Forward option
Maeda’s cited strengths are RW and LW Inside Forward Role+, five-star Skill Moves, four-star Weak Foot, and Quick Step, Rapid and Relentless. That combination makes him a flexible candidate if you want to use either wing and value movement traits alongside the Evolution’s boosts. The four-star Weak Foot is a step below Cesinha, Nani and Minteh, each of whom FUT.GG lists among its five-star Weak Foot picks. FUT.GG’s Maeda recommendation

6. Samuel Mbangula — alternative from Destructoid’s shortlist
Destructoid includes Mbangula among its suggested players, but the captured guide does not provide an individual ranking or player-specific rationale for him. Consider him as a shortlist alternative if his item fits your club better than the five FUT.GG picks. Compare the exact card’s starting position, rating, PlayStyles and Skill Moves with the rules and upgrades below rather than assuming the recommendation guarantees eligibility. 7. Gabriel Pec — candidate appearing in two references
Destructoid names Gabriel Pec as a candidate, and WeFUT also uses him as an example player on its Evolution reference page. That makes him a useful item to check, but an example in a database is not an endorsement that he is among the best. Confirm the specific version of his item meets the active in-game requirements before selecting it. Destructoid’s candidate list WeFUT’s Evolution reference

8. Nestory Irankunda — another Destructoid option
Irankunda appears in Destructoid’s broader candidate list, without an individual ranking in the captured text. He is worth comparing with the top five if his card, chemistry links or club preference make him a better fit. The available material does not establish a specific advantage over the higher-ranked players, so treat him as an alternative to evaluate rather than a proven upgrade target. Destructoid’s candidate list
9. Vicky Lopez — squad-fit alternative
Vicky Lopez also appears in Destructoid’s recommendations, but no player-specific rationale or individual rank is stated in the captured guide. If her item is eligible and suits your squad, she belongs on the comparison list; the evidence does not support claiming she is better than the five FUT.GG picks. Destructoid’s candidate list

Other names worth checking
Destructoid’s broader list also includes Marin Soticek, Henrique Pereira, Mamah, Leandro Andrade, Nadia Gomes, Cristhian Solanor and Rafael Nel. WeFUT gives James Forrest and Léo Baptistão as additional example players. The cited pages do not rank these names individually or establish that their items are currently eligible, so check each exact card in-game rather than treating a mention as a recommendation or eligibility guarantee. Eligibility and position caveat
The reference pages do not agree completely on the starting-position rule: WeFUT lists RW, FUT.GG lists RW and LW, and Destructoid lists RW. WeFUT also lists a maximum rating of 74, no more than three positions, no more than ten PlayStyles and no more than two PlayStyles+. Because the sources conflict on position and availability is uncertain, the in-game Evolution screen is the authority for whether a particular item can be submitted. Is A Star Is Born still available?
Not on the evidence available here: WeFUT marks the Evolution expired and displays “Expires 9 March at 18:00,” but the captured entry does not specify a year. The cited player guides were published in February 2025, and the reference page was accessed October 7, 2026. Treat the Evolution as historical unless it appears as available in your own FC 25 Ultimate Team menu; do not infer an active deadline from the yearless date.
