8BitDo controllers confirmed compatible with Switch 2
As of October 7, 2026, 8BitDo’s product pages provide Switch 2 compatibility information for these three controllers:

These manufacturer statements confirm the named models; they do not establish that every 8BitDo controller works with Switch 2. How to check and update your controller
- Identify the exact controller model. Do not rely on a family name or assume that a similarly named model has the same compatibility.
- Find that model in 8BitDo Support and check its firmware and update instructions.
- Apply the firmware required for that model before attempting Switch 2 pairing. For the Pro 3, the product page specifies firmware 3.0.0 or above for Switch compatibility; the Pro 2 and SN30 Pro pages direct owners to update through support.
- Follow the model-specific instructions for pairing. The cited product pages do not establish one universal update procedure or firmware version for all 8BitDo controllers.
Choosing among the confirmed models
If you already own one of the confirmed controllers, checking its firmware is the practical first step. If you are choosing a controller, compare the exact model’s layout and controls as well as its compatibility notice. The Pro 3 product page lists TMR joysticks, Hall Effect triggers, extra bumpers, back paddles, motion control, and swappable ABXY buttons. What Nintendo’s compatibility guidance adds
Nintendo says its own Switch Pro Controller can pair wirelessly with Switch 2 and charge through the Switch 2 dock. Nintendo also cautions that compatibility does not extend to every Switch product or feature. Its page provides general context; it does not certify 8BitDo controllers.
