Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle is best understood as an expanded edition of the 2018 action game, not a stand-alone Season 3 game. It combines the original campaign covering anime Seasons 1–2 with a new Character Episode Mode based on Season 3. If you already own Attack on Titan 2, Koei Tecmo also offers a separate Upgrade Pack; if you do not, compare the full package with the upgrade on your platform’s store before buying.
Is Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle worth it?
It is the version to consider if you want both the base game’s story and the added Season 3 content, or if you already own the base game and want to extend it through the Upgrade Pack. The central appeal is the series’ high-mobility Titan combat: use omni-directional mobility (ODM) gear to maneuver, then target a Titan’s nape. Cutting limbs can help create an opening to reach that weak point, according to Koei Tecmo’s product overview.
That describes the intended combat loop, not a platform-by-platform performance verdict. The available review evidence does not establish a separate critic consensus for Final Battle, so a base-game review score or Steam user aggregate should not be mistaken for a rating of this edition’s added content.
What does Final Battle add?
Season 3 Character Episode Mode
The headline addition is Character Episode Mode, which presents Season 3 through the perspectives of key characters. Koei Tecmo describes this mode on its official story page and product overview. It is the main reason to choose Final Battle over the original game if Season 3 coverage is your priority.

The original campaign remains included in the full package
The publisher says Story Mode covers anime Seasons 1 and 2 and includes original stories supervised by series creator Hajime Isayama. You can play as a customizable protagonist or select from more than 40 playable characters, according to the same story page. The full Final Battle package therefore combines that earlier campaign with the new Season 3 mode.
Annihilation Mode
Final Battle also includes Annihilation Mode, which Koei Tecmo describes as a timed competition between two teams of four Scouts, with points determining the outcome. The format is distinct from the story modes; check your platform’s current online-service support and store details if multiplayer is important to you. The publisher’s feature page provides the mode description.
Should you buy the full game or the Upgrade Pack?
The right purchase depends on whether you already own Attack on Titan 2. Koei Tecmo presents Final Battle both as a complete package and as an Upgrade Pack for existing owners; Steam likewise identifies the existing-owner upgrade route. Store names, bundles, prices, and availability can vary by region and change over time, so confirm the precise listing for your platform before checkout.
| What you own or want | Purchase path to compare | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| You do not own Attack on Titan 2 and want the base campaign plus Season 3 content | Final Battle full package | That the listing includes the base game and Final Battle content for your platform and region. |
| You already own Attack on Titan 2 and want the added content | Final Battle Upgrade Pack | That your existing game edition and platform qualify, and whether the store requires the base game to use the upgrade. |
| You only want the original Seasons 1–2 campaign | Compare the base game with the full package | Whether the price difference is worthwhile for you; current prices are not established here. |
Koei Tecmo lists the game for PS4, Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One, with a release date of July 5, 2019. Check each store for the current edition and compatibility information: the publisher’s product overview outlines the package, while its story page explains the full-game and upgrade relationship.

What do the reviews say—and what do they not prove?
The available ratings provide context for the base game, not a verified verdict on Final Battle’s Season 3 expansion. GameSpot’s 2018 review listing credits James Swinbanks with an 8/10 for Attack on Titan 2; it does not establish that score as a review of Final Battle.
Steam displayed “Very Positive,” with 93% of 3,732 English-language user reviews positive when captured on October 7, 2026. That is a time-sensitive aggregate for the Attack on Titan 2 Steam listing, not a critic score and not a Final Battle-only rating. PlayStation’s product listing says its reviews come from verified owners and are moderated, but no PlayStation score is established here.
These signals can help set expectations about the base game, but they do not answer how the added mode performs on each platform. No platform-by-platform Final Battle review consensus or comparative performance finding is established by these ratings.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Who is Final Battle for?
- Season 3 fans: The Character Episode Mode is the clearest reason to choose this edition.
- New players who want the complete story package: The full package combines the Seasons 1–2 Story Mode and original stories with the Season 3 mode.
- Existing owners: Compare the Upgrade Pack with the full package, and verify compatibility with your owned edition before purchasing.
- Players focused on multiplayer: Check that your platform and its online services still support the play you want; the story content is separate from that consideration.
If platform performance is decisive, look for reliable reviews or direct testing for the exact platform and edition you plan to play. The available evidence here does not support a ranking among PS4, Steam, Switch, and Xbox One.
