World of Warcraft’s 20th Anniversary Celebration ran from October 22, 2024, through January 6, 2025, at the celebration grounds outside the Caverns of Time in Tanaris. The event has ended; the details below describe how it worked, not a currently active event. Blizzard has said the anniversary Tier 2 sets would return in future years, but has not established a specific return date.
Where was the WoW 20th Anniversary event?
The celebration area was in Tanaris, outside the Caverns of Time. Players level 10 and above could begin with the invitation quest “Another Timely Invitation.” These are historical event details: the event ran October 22, 2024, through January 6, 2025. Blizzard’s event announcement gives the dates, location, entry information, and activity overview.
What activities were part of the celebration?
The event combined several kinds of play, so the best activity depended on whether you wanted raid rewards, appearances, exploration, classic dungeons, or PvP.
| Activity | What it offered |
|---|---|
| Blackrock Depths raid | A special anniversary raid experience, with raid difficulty and queue options described in Blizzard’s event materials. |
| Classic Timewalking dungeons | Classic World of Warcraft dungeons with Timewalking rewards, including rewards tied to Timewarped Badges. |
| Codex of Chromie | A scenario focused on exploring and confronting events from Azeroth’s past. |
| Guest Relations | Secrets and investigations around the anniversary celebration grounds. |
| Party-crashing world bosses | World bosses including the Sha of Anger and Archavon the Stonewatcher. |
| Korrak’s Revenge | A PvP battleground set in Alterac Valley. |
The celebration area was expanded for the event, and Blizzard also announced Bronze Dragonflight experience and reputation buffs. The official event overview lists these activities and bonuses.

How did Bronze Celebration Tokens work?
Bronze Celebration Tokens were the main currency for anniversary rewards, including the Tier 2 appearance sets. Players earned tokens from quests and activities, with the amount varying by activity. Blizzard’s reward guide said activity completions counted across a player’s Warband and that tokens could be transferred within it. That made progress less dependent on completing every activity on one character.
Not every event reward used Bronze Celebration Tokens. Blackrock Depths loot exchanges used Timewarped Relic Coffer Keys, while Timewalking rewards used Timewarped Badges. Other vendors and legacy or pet rewards could involve their own currencies. Blizzard’s anniversary reward guide describes the vendors and reward currencies.

How much did the anniversary Tier 2 sets cost?
Blizzard announced an achievement-based discount progression for Tier 2 appearances. These were the event’s announced prices, not a current live price list:
| Set milestone | Bronze Celebration Token cost |
|---|---|
| First Tier 2 appearance set | 60 |
| Second set, after the relevant achievement milestone | 40 |
| Each subsequent set, after the stated milestones | 20 |
Blizzard’s developer note estimated that earning a first set would take roughly two to three weeks, depending on play style. That was a developer estimate, not a guaranteed schedule or a measured average. The reward guide explains the progression and the event’s token earning system.

Can players still get the Tier 2 sets?
Blizzard said the anniversary Tier 2 sets would be available in future years for players who did not earn them during the event. Its October 10, 2024 developer note said: “If you run out of time this year, don’t worry, we will have the sets available from the anniversary event in future years.” The statement does not specify a return date or schedule, and it does not establish which rewards beyond those sets would return.
