At Awesome Games Done Quick 2024, Shiba Inu Peanut Butter took Gyromite’s secondary role while his owner, speedrunner JSR_, handled the other. The official tracker called it “Gyromite Game B – Dog Assistance”; the event video lists the performance at 26:24. It was a coordinated run, not a claim that a dog independently played every part of the game.
What happened in the Gyromite run?
JSR_ and Peanut Butter played Gyromite, a 1985 NES game, in a two-role setup. Speedrun.com described Peanut Butter as a three-year-old Shiba Inu at the time and said JSR_ had trained him for nine months to take over the game’s secondary role. The announcement characterized the AGDQ appearance as the first dog to do so; that is an attributed description of this event, not an independently established first across all speedrunning events. The dog’s controller was described as a modified GameCube fight stick with A, B, and Start buttons, plus a macro for more complex inputs. The account does not identify a retail product or an off-the-shelf controller used by Peanut Butter.

How long was the run?
The official Games Done Quick video is titled “Gyromite by Peanut Butter the Dog & JSR_ in 26:24 – Awesome Games Done Quick 2024.” The 26:24 is the video’s stated performance time; the tracker’s 30 minutes is the scheduled slot, not the run result. The video description says the run was recorded during the week-long charity marathon benefiting the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Watch the official Games Done Quick video
