This pre-update guide separates PvP and PvE priorities and dates its rankings to October 7, 2026—the day before Embark’s scheduled Frozen Trail launch.
Arc Raiders weapon tier list: the short version
This is a practical, role-aware reading of the available rankings, not an official or controlled-test leaderboard. The most recent named ranking available here is Arc Raiders AI’s October 3, 2026 guide. It places Anvil, Bobcat, Renegade, Venator, and Vulcano in S tier overall. That guide weighs DPS, versatility, and ease of crafting; it does not establish that these weapons will win a particular matchup.
| Weapon | October 3 overall placement | Role described by that guide | Practical reading |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anvil | S | Heavy-damage hand cannon | A high-impact option to consider when individual hits matter; judge it against the target and your ability to land shots. |
| Bobcat | S | Close-quarters option | Most naturally suited to short-range Raider fights, rather than a universal pick for every engagement. |
| Renegade | S | Lever-action battle rifle | A battle-rifle choice for players who value a deliberate, versatile weapon; the guide’s overall placement is not a matchup-specific test. |
| Venator | S | Semi-automatic pistol | Ranks highly in both the October guide and an older PC Gamer list, though that agreement does not settle its exact standing in current play. |
| Vulcano | S | Semi-automatic shotgun | A close-range-oriented candidate; do not read an all-around tier as evidence of strength at every distance. |
The table reports Arc Raiders AI’s published descriptions and placements, not independently verified weapon statistics. Its October 3 ranking is at Arc Raiders AI’s Best Weapons Tier List.
Best guns for Raider PvP
For fights against other players, range and engagement shape matter as much as a weapon’s place in an all-around list. Bobcat and Vulcano are the clearest close-range candidates in the October 3 guide’s own descriptions. Anvil is its heavy-hit hand cannon option, while Renegade is the battle-rifle choice. Venator is a pistol placed in S tier, but the source does not provide a shared PvP test protocol that would establish a precise matchup ranking among them.

- ARC Raiders Deluxe Edition includes the base game and the following content: The Wanderer Set, including the following cosmetic items: “Valente” Outfit" “Pathfinder” Backpack,“Blanket Roll” Backpack Attachment.
- Plus: Character Cosmetic, Finger Gun Rapid Fire Emote, Cowboy Scrappy Body Type and Skin, 2 400 Raider Tokens.
- Close range: Start by considering Bobcat or Vulcano, then account for whether the fight is likely to remain at shotgun or close-quarters distance.
- Heavier individual hits: Anvil is the guide’s hand-cannon pick; its tier does not remove the importance of aim or the opponent’s defenses.
- More measured engagements: Renegade is described as a lever-action battle rifle. Its placement should not be treated as a guarantee of superiority over other rifles in every range band.
- Sidearm preference: Venator is the semi-automatic pistol among the five S-tier choices, but no supplied controlled comparison establishes when it outperforms the other four.
Best guns for ARC PvE
Against ARC machines, “best” depends on the particular enemy, your available ammunition and the encounter—not simply a weapon’s PvP reputation. The October 3 ranking is described as an overall list, and the available source material does not provide a reproducible ARC-enemy test with target, armor, weapon quality, attachments and hit locations held constant. It therefore cannot support an exact PvE ordering or a definitive “best gun for ARC.”
Use the list as a shortlist, not a damage chart. Before spending resources, check the current in-game weapon values and consider whether the weapon fits the ARC target and the distance at which you can safely fight. KILLMATH exposes dimensions such as TTK, shots to kill, DPS and fire rate for comparison at its ARC Raiders weapon tool; calculator outputs should be checked against current in-game values and their assumptions rather than treated as controlled field results.
Rank #2
Why tier lists disagree
Rankings depend on their date, purpose and criteria. Arc Raiders AI’s October 3 list includes Anvil in S tier, while PC Gamer’s launch-period list puts Anvil in A and instead places Hullcracker, Jupiter, Equalizer and Venator in S. PC Gamer’s list also assigns Tempest, Bettina, Renegade, Vulcano, Aphelion and Bobcat to A; Ferro, Stitcher, Torrente, Il Toro, Arpeggio, Burletta and Osprey to B; Kettle and Rattler to C; and Hairpin to D. That older ranking is useful evidence that placements vary, not a current October meta reference.
Beebom’s October 1, 2026 guide says it covers 24 weapons and ranks all-around performance. Its stated scope is useful context, but the available account does not establish a reproducible controlled test protocol. See Beebom’s October 2026 weapon tier list and PC Gamer’s launch-period ranking.
Rank #3
A ranking can be informative without proving win rates or guaranteeing an outcome. Useful comparison axes include damage per second or time to kill, versatility, crafting ease and the intended fight type. Numeric TTK or DPS comparisons only mean much when target defenses, hit location, weapon quality and other assumptions match; the sources do not establish one shared setup across their lists. KILLMATH’s comparison dimensions are a way to frame questions, not evidence that different guides used the same test.
Which weapon is worth crafting or upgrading?
Choose for the role you actually need rather than chasing an S label. If you mainly take close fights with Raiders, a close-range weapon may be more useful to you than an all-purpose placement. If you need a weapon for varied encounters, weigh versatility alongside the cost and ease of crafting. The October 3 guide explicitly includes crafting ease in its criteria; the supplied rankings do not establish exact resource costs or a universally optimal upgrade order.

Frozen Trail: what may change after October 8
As of October 7, 2026, Embark’s Frozen Trail update is scheduled for the following day. The publisher’s September 23 preview announces the Stiletto, a light-ammo battle rifle intended as an early-game alternative to Renegade, and the Bantam, a heavy-ammo snub-nosed revolver described as effective against both ARC and Raiders. These are preview descriptions, not verified post-launch performance results.
The preview also announces a fifth weapon quality level with branching enhancements for 15 weapons through a fully upgraded Research Workstation. Embark’s examples include a fully automatic Burletta, a scoped Renegade, and a Rattler with incendiary bullets and a 64-round magazine. Those examples describe planned upgrade configurations, not measured outcomes or proof that any weapon should move up the tier list.
