Atari’s console is called the Intellivision Sprint, not “Intellivision Spirit.” Reporting published October 21, 2025 described it as a modernized Intellivision with 45 built-in games, HDMI output, and wireless controllers. Atari acquired the Intellivision brand and rights to more than 200 games in 2024; the separate Amico business continued under license.
What is the Intellivision Sprint?
The Sprint is Atari’s new physical console bearing the Intellivision name. Atari’s official product page presents it as a return to the historic rivalry between Atari and Intellivision. The official name is Sprint; “Spirit” appears to be a naming error, not a separately established product. Atari’s Intellivision Sprint page

Product details come from reporting published October 21, 2025, rather than a technical specification document. That report described 45 built-in Intellivision games, HDMI for connecting to a modern television or monitor, wireless controllers that dock and charge over USB-C, and keypad overlays for the games. It also described a USB-A port that supports original Intellivision controllers with an adapter, and said additional games would be sold separately. Engadget’s October 21, 2025 report
What does it include?
- 45 built-in games: the number reported for the Sprint’s included library. Atari’s 2024 brand acquisition covered rights to more than 200 titles, but that figure is not the number included on the console.
- HDMI output: connects the system to a contemporary television or monitor.
- Wireless controllers: the report said they dock and charge via USB-C.
- Keypad overlays: overlays accompany the controllers for use with the games.
- USB-A port: reported as supporting original Intellivision controllers when used with an adapter; the adapter was not described as included.
- Additional games: reported as sold separately; the report did not establish a current catalog or purchasing terms.
These are reported product features, not confirmation of every package component or of later hardware revisions. The October 2025 report listed a U.S. preorder price of $149.99 and expected early-December shipping at that time. Those were historical preorder details, not a current price or delivery promise. Current stock and pricing are not established by the available sources.

How is the Sprint different from Amico?
They are separate products and businesses. Atari bought the Intellivision brand and certain games from Intellivision Entertainment LLC in May 2024. The deal included the trademarks and rights to more than 200 titles. Atari said it planned to expand digital and physical distribution of legacy games, potentially develop new games, and explore licensing opportunities. Atari’s May 23, 2024 acquisition announcement
Intellivision Entertainment LLC rebranded and continued its Amico business. Atari licensed it to continue distributing new versions of Intellivision games on the Amico. The Sprint, by contrast, is Atari’s Intellivision-branded physical console. The sources establish the Sprint’s reported hardware and game count, but do not provide comparable Amico specifications, so the distinction here is about ownership and platform identity—not a full feature-by-feature verdict.

What is the original Intellivision?
Mattel Electronics released the first Intellivision home video game console in 1979. Atari estimates that the platform sold 5 million units through 1990. Those are historical figures for the original platform, not sales or performance claims for the Sprint. In the acquisition announcement, Digital Eclipse studio head Mike Mika characterized the deal as: “Uniting Atari and Intellivision after 45 years ends the longest-running console war in history.” That is Mika’s description of the rivalry, rather than a neutral historical ranking.
