What is Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian?
Rias Eidreise and Slade Clauslyter return to Hallfein after a mysterious disaster leaves most of its residents missing. They investigate what happened while trying to restore their hometown. The story’s mystery is closely tied to the game’s practical routine: gather materials, make useful goods, sell them, and use the proceeds to help Hallfein develop.
KOEI TECMO America and Gust released the game worldwide on September 26, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC via Steam. The PS4 version is sold only in Japan. The publisher describes the adventure as entirely offline, though an internet connection is needed to download updates and additional content. How the gathering, crafting, and restoration loop works
You switch between Rias and Slade while exploring, collecting ingredients, and entering Dimensional Paths. These multi-level dungeons change their layouts and monsters between visits; taking on higher difficulty can yield rarer ingredients and equipment. Materials gathered in the field feed into battles and synthesis rather than serving as a separate collectible checklist.
Fight through timeline command battles
Combat uses a timeline command system with front and back rows. Mechanics include multi-actions, item mix, and link or unite attacks; the exact wording varies between store descriptions. The system gives you tactical choices, but GamesRadar+ reviewer Oscar Taylor-Kent characterized combat as simple rather than especially demanding.
Synthesize items with Gift Color
Gift Color Synthesis uses ingredient colors to transfer traits, add ingredients, and unlock or alter recipes. It is the central reason to keep gathering: the materials you collect can become more useful when combined through alchemy. As Taylor-Kent put it in his GamesRadar+ hands-on review, “Bought items will never be as good as the game-breaking concoctions you can create through alchemy in your big cauldron.” That is the reviewer’s praise for the crafting loop, not a guarantee that every recipe will be overpowered.
Sell goods to rebuild Hallfein
You sell gathered and crafted goods through the shop to fund town development. Progress in Hallfein unlocks recipes and story sections, connecting the economic and crafting systems to the investigation. If you enjoy seeing a home base grow as your production improves, this gives the item loop a clear purpose beyond preparing for the next battle.

Is the game good for Atelier fans and beginners?
The strongest case for the game is its focus on gathering, alchemy, and steady town restoration. Taylor-Kent described the experience as cozy and rewarding for players who enjoy crafting, and reported that the accumulating party and synthesis systems became compelling. His reservations were rough movement and straightforward combat. These are one reviewer’s impressions from a PC hands-on session, not a consensus assessment or a technical benchmark.
That same reviewer said he would not recommend the game to a series newcomer. Treat that as a personal recommendation, not a requirement: the official descriptions explain the main systems, and the game’s central loop is understandable on its own. But if your priority is a particularly polished-feeling character movement system, demanding combat, or a first introduction to Atelier, the available hands-on assessment gives reason to be cautious. Existing fans looking for another alchemy-centered adventure have a clearer reason to consider it.
Is this the mobile gacha game?
No. This is the offline console and PC RPG The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian, not the similarly named Atelier Resleriana mobile game. The publisher identifies this release as an offline adventure, with internet access needed for updates and additional content. Its official platforms are PS5, Switch, and Steam on Windows PC, with a PS4 release limited to Japan.

Platform and format availability differ. The official site lists a physical PS5 edition. The US Nintendo store listing is for a digital Switch edition, while Steam lists the PC edition. Check your regional storefront for current stock and format before buying; the listed formats do not establish availability in every country.
There are Digital Deluxe and Ultimate editions, as well as a season pass. The listed additional content includes the Gust Extra BGM Pack, characters Resna and Valeria, costumes, a recipe expansion, and the high-difficulty Backwards-Ticking Clock Workshop dungeon. The Steam listing warns that overlapping editions can include duplicate content, so compare what each edition contains before selecting one. Prices and availability vary by region and time.
