No single worldwide Roblox shutdown is established. As of the latest dated information here, restrictions depend on location and age: Indonesia began implementing an under-16 account restriction in March 2026, and Roblox introduced age-based accounts and chat limits globally. Those measures are different from a universal ban.
What “banning Roblox” can mean
There are several distinct kinds of restriction, and they do not affect everyone in the same way:
- Worldwide shutdown: Roblox would be unavailable everywhere. The sources cited here do not show that this has happened.
- Complete block in a country: A government may prevent access within its jurisdiction. Roblox says some governments have restricted access to or blocked its platform entirely, but its cited filing does not provide a complete current list of those places. Roblox’s second-quarter 2026 SEC filing
- Age-based account restriction: A rule may prevent people below a specified age from holding or using accounts, without banning Roblox for all residents.
- Feature limit: A user may lose access to a feature such as chat while still being able to use other parts of Roblox.
That distinction matters if Roblox still opens but a child cannot sign in, access certain games, or use chat.
Where restrictions have been reported
Indonesia: restrictions for users under 16
Indonesia began phased implementation on March 28, 2026, of a restriction on under-16 accounts across covered digital platforms, including Roblox. The Associated Press reported that the rollout was gradual, not an immediate universal shutdown for every Roblox user in the country. The measure was estimated by Indonesia’s Communication and Digital Affairs Minister Meutya Hafid to apply to around 70 million children; that figure is not a count of Roblox users or accounts. In the AP report, Hafid said platforms operating in Indonesia must bring their products, features, and services into compliance with the law. Roblox’s SEC filing also describes Indonesia’s requirements as applying to high-risk platforms such as Roblox and requiring product changes or deactivation of accounts for children under 16. How the restriction affects a particular account depends on implementation and applicable local rules.
Philippines: no ban announced in April 2026
On April 7, 2026, the Philippine News Agency reported that the Department of Information and Communications Technology ruled out a Roblox ban after discussions about safety measures. This is a dated government position, not a guarantee that policy cannot change. Philippine News Agency, April 7, 2026

Other locations
Roblox’s second-quarter 2026 filing acknowledges that some government authorities have restricted access to or blocked the platform entirely. The cited passage does not enumerate all affected jurisdictions, so it is not a reliable basis for a complete country-by-country list. Check current local government notices and Roblox announcements for your location.
Why Roblox chat or games may be unavailable
A feature not working does not by itself mean Roblox has been banned where you live. Roblox announced on June 16, 2026, that its age-based account categories—Kids for ages 5–8, Select for ages 9–15, and standard accounts for users 16 and older—were globally available. The company said access to games and features is aligned with age, and that users who have not completed an age check cannot chat. Exact ages, game availability, and features may vary by region. So if Roblox loads but chat is unavailable, an age check or account setting may be the reason. If the app or site cannot be reached at all, a local access restriction is one possibility, but connection problems or account-specific issues can also prevent access.

- Check recent notices from your government or relevant regulator for rules applying to Roblox or online platforms generally.
- Check Roblox’s official announcements and account messages for age-based rules, feature changes, or local availability information.
- Separate an access problem from a feature problem: note whether Roblox itself will not load, sign-in is blocked, a particular game is unavailable, or only chat is disabled.
- If the issue concerns a child’s account, review the account’s age information and settings and follow Roblox’s age-check prompts where available.
Because laws and platform policies can change, dated reports are evidence of the position at the time they were published—not a substitute for a current notice in your location.
