Sanity is Arknights: Endfield’s stamina for entering Protocol Spaces and farming progression materials. GameWith’s guide, last updated February 25, 2026, reports natural recovery of 1 Sanity every 7 minutes 12 seconds—200 over 24 hours—and says recovery stops at the current cap. A Sanity Usage Permit is different from a refill: it doubles the Sanity spent and rewards received on a qualifying run. As of October 7, 2026, automatic use of expiring limited-time Sanity medicines is announced for the October 15 Sanctuary of Ink version, not yet a live feature.

What Sanity is used for

Sanity is spent to run Protocol Spaces, which provide progression materials. The guides reviewed describe it as a stamina resource; unlock requirements can change, so check the current in-game menus rather than relying on older story-progression details.

How Sanity regenerates

GameWith’s guide, last updated February 25, 2026, reports a rate of 1 Sanity every 7 minutes 12 seconds, or 200 over 24 hours. It also says natural recovery stops when Sanity reaches its current cap. These figures come from a third-party guide, not the October 2026 official announcement. The cap value itself is not established here.

To benefit from passive recovery, spend some Sanity before it reaches the cap. There is no evidence here for one universally optimal login schedule, so use the in-game counter and your own play pattern rather than treating a fixed routine as a rule.

What a Sanity Usage Permit does

GameWith describes a Sanity Usage Permit as doubling both the Sanity spent and the rewards gained from a qualifying run. It is a run multiplier, not a Sanity refill or recovery medicine. Permit supplies and event rewards can vary by version: an April 2026 official announcement documented rewards for that particular version and event, but does not establish what is available now. Check the live event and pass screens for current sources.

Recovery items and Origeometry

GameWith’s February 2026 guide lists Sanity recovery items and Origeometry as recovery options, while noting that Origeometry has other uses. A January 2026 fan guide also discusses recovery items and Origeometry. Those older guides do not establish current refill costs, daily limits, or every item’s expiry rules, so verify the item description and confirmation screen in the current game before using one.

Consider the trade-off before spending Origeometry: restoring Sanity may help you farm now, but the same premium currency has other uses. The reviewed sources do not support a blanket recommendation to spend or save it.

What happens to expiring limited-time Sanity medicines

On October 7, 2026, the Arknights: Endfield Team announced that the Sanctuary of Ink version, scheduled for October 15, would add automatic use of limited-time Sanity medicines when they expire. The announcement describes the following behavior:

  • When a limited-time Sanity medicine expires, it is converted into Sanity.
  • If Sanity is at its limit, excess is converted into Sanity Essences using Sanity Extractors.
  • Sanity Essences do not expire.
  • If Sanity is capped and you cannot hold more Sanity Essences or have no Sanity Extractors, remaining limited-time medicines are destroyed.

This announced behavior applies to limited-time Sanity medicines; the announcement does not say that every Sanity recovery item expires or is handled the same way. Because the feature was still upcoming on October 7, check the live Sanctuary of Ink patch notes or in-game item details for confirmation after the scheduled October 15 launch.
