Astro Bot received two free Vicious Void Galaxy level updates in 2025: five challenge levels released weekly from February 13 to March 13, followed by five more on July 10. Team Asobi also said the PS5 Pro version runs at 60 frames per second with what it called “a constant best resolution”; it did not publish a specific resolution or a measured comparison with standard PS5.
What are the new Astro Bot levels?
Both updates added challenge stages to the Vicious Void Galaxy. Team Asobi’s February announcement named all five levels in its drop; its June announcement named four of the five July stages and withheld the last name.

Team Asobi scheduled the February updates for 6:00 a.m. PT / 2:00 p.m. GMT / 10:00 p.m. JST each Thursday. The July announcement gave the same time for its July 10 release. The studio said the July addition brought the game to 90+ levels. At launch, Sony described Astro Bot as having over 80 levels across six galaxies and over 150 PlayStation-history heroes; these are publisher figures, not independent counts. Are the Astro Bot levels free?
Yes. Team Asobi described the February levels as a free update and said the five additional July levels were available at no additional cost. The updates add content to the base PS5 game; they are not a separate game. Astro Bot is a standalone, full-sized PS5 adventure, according to its official product page.

Do I need to finish the game first?
To access the February challenge levels, Team Asobi said players must complete the main game. Each of those five levels contains a Special Bot to rescue. After rescuing it, players can replay that level in Time Attack mode and compete on online rankings. The February announcement does not specify the July stages’ access requirements, so the same completion condition should not be assumed for them.
What does the PS5 Pro enhancement change?
Team Asobi said PS5 Pro owners could play an improved version featuring “a constant best resolution while still running at 60 frames per second.” That is the studio’s description, not an independently measured benchmark. Its February announcement gives no numeric rendered or output resolution and does not quantify the difference from standard PS5.

Sony’s general PS5 Pro announcement describes console-wide capabilities including an upgraded GPU, advanced ray tracing and PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), an AI-driven upscaling technology. Those general features do not establish which specific techniques or resolution figures apply to Astro Bot.

You need the PS5 base game to play its free level updates. Team Asobi’s announcements do not make PS5 Pro or a special controller a requirement. The updated Astro Bot Limited Edition DualSense controller was announced in June 2025 as a separate accessory; that announcement does not establish its current availability.
