HONOR launched its WIN and WIN RT gaming-focused phones in China on December 26, 2025. Both pair a 6.83-inch OLED display rated for up to 185Hz with a 10,000mAh battery and active cooling. The key difference is the chip: the WIN uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, while the less expensive WIN RT uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The launch does not establish official US availability.
HONOR WIN vs. WIN RT: what is different?
The WIN is the higher-end model; the WIN RT is the value-oriented version. Their shared headline features are the large battery, high-refresh OLED and active cooling. The processor and camera configurations are the clearest distinctions in the launch information.
| Model | Processor | Display | Battery and charging | China launch price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HONOR WIN | Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 | 6.83-inch OLED, 2,800 × 1,272 pixels, up to 185Hz | 10,000mAh; up to 100W wired and 80W wireless charging | CNY 3,999 starting price |
| HONOR WIN RT | Snapdragon 8 Elite | 6.83-inch OLED, 2,800 × 1,272 pixels, up to 185Hz | 10,000mAh; up to 100W wired charging; wireless charging is reported as unavailable | CNY 2,599 starting price |
HONOR’s China launch announcement lists the series’ core features and processors (HONOR announcement); the resolution is reported by IT Home, and charging details by IT Home. The WIN RT is not an entry-level phone: launch coverage pairs it with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage. Its trade-off is the older Snapdragon platform and a simpler camera arrangement, not a budget-class chip.

What does a 185Hz display mean for gaming?
The phones have a flat 6.83-inch OLED/LTPS OLED panel with a resolution of 2,800 × 1,272 pixels, commonly described as 1.5K, and a maximum refresh rate of 185Hz. The refresh-rate figure is a display ceiling, not a promise that games render at 185 frames per second. A title capped at 60, 90, 120 or 144 frames per second will remain below that limit, and the game and software must support higher rates for the panel’s maximum to matter.

- For USA Buyers: Only work with T-Mobile in the US, as it is not optimized for Verizon and AT&T. This means that as long as there's T-Mobile coverage, it'll work. For Intentional Buyers: Work outside of the USA with any network provider without any restrictions.
- Inner screen: 7.95 inch, 2352 x 2172 Pixels, foldable OLED, 1.07 billion colors
- External screen: 6.52 inch, 2420 x 1080 Pixels, OLED, 1.07 billion colors
- 512GB Storage, 16GB RAM
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite (Gen 5) Mobile Platform, Adreno 840
Refresh rate, frame rate and touch-sampling rate are different measurements: the panel refreshes its image, the game produces frames, and touch sampling describes how often input is detected. Reports conflict on the phones’ touch-sampling figure, so it is not useful to treat a single reported number as settled. Likewise, coverage gives different peak-brightness figures—roughly 3,500 and 6,000 nits—without a clear shared measurement condition. Those claims should not be read as everyday sustained brightness. HONOR’s product information describes the display as supporting up to 185Hz: HONOR WIN product page.
- Higher refresh can make supported games and interface motion look smoother, but it uses more power.
- Game frame-rate caps, graphics settings, resolution and temperature affect the result as much as the panel’s maximum rate.
- For emulation and long sessions, stable cooling, software and driver support, and controller compatibility may matter more than a peak display specification.
10,000mAh battery, charging and active cooling
Both phones use a 10,000mAh battery that HONOR markets as its Qinghai Lake battery. That is unusually large for a flagship-class phone, but capacity alone cannot establish a fixed gaming runtime or two-day endurance. Brightness, refresh rate, cellular reception, the game’s workload and thermal conditions all affect drain. The battery’s size also points to a portability trade-off: buyers should expect a device built around endurance and cooling rather than assuming mainstream-phone dimensions or weight.

Both models support up to 100W wired charging. The WIN additionally supports up to 80W wireless charging; launch reporting identifies that feature as absent from the WIN RT. Charging rates are maximum supported figures, not a guarantee of the same speed throughout a full charge. See IT Home’s launch details.
HONOR also equips the series with an integrated fan and active thermal hardware intended to help manage heat during sustained workloads. That may help keep performance steadier over a long session, but it does not make the phone immune to throttling: high ambient temperatures and simultaneous heavy loads can still push it to reduce performance. A fan also adds noise, moving parts and openings where dust may accumulate, and it consumes power. No controlled temperature or frame-rate comparison is established by the launch specifications.

Performance, cameras and everyday compromises
The WIN’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is the newer, higher-tier platform; the WIN RT’s Snapdragon 8 Elite is still a premium processor. The newer chip should offer greater peak CPU and GPU performance and may be more efficient, but the practical gap depends on the game, frame-rate limit, cooling profile and software optimization. A short benchmark would not by itself show how either phone behaves over a long gaming session.
Camera hardware also favors the WIN. Launch coverage lists a 50MP main, 12MP ultrawide and 50MP telephoto camera for the WIN, while the WIN RT is commonly listed with a 50MP main camera and 12MP secondary camera. These specifications suggest the RT gives up camera versatility; they do not establish image quality. Buyers prioritizing photography, compactness or broad international support may find a conventional flagship a better fit than either gaming-focused model.

Software, update policy and durability
Launch coverage identifies MagicOS 10 based on Android 16. HONOR-related reporting says the WIN RT was promised at least three major Android/MagicOS version upgrades and the WIN four. Treat those counts as reported company policy, subject to regional conditions, rather than an independently verified guarantee. The report is available from IT Home; launch software details are summarized by Gadgets 360.
These are China-market phones, so software behavior may differ from a global model. Google Play availability, language options, notifications, banking apps, DRM, Android Auto, wearables and carrier apps can depend on the exact ROM and seller configuration. A seller-installed Google service package or modified software may also complicate updates and warranty support. Confirm the exact configuration rather than assuming every imported unit behaves the same way.
Launch reporting lists IP68, IP69 and IP69K protection for the series. Check that the exact model and configuration being sold carries the stated rating. Water-resistance ratings do not cover every circumstance, and protection can be affected by wear, damage or repair. The reported rating appears in IT Home’s coverage.
Availability outside China: what importers should check
The December 26, 2025 launch was in China. The available launch information does not establish an official US release, US warranty or broad global rollout. Importer listings are not equivalent to regional availability or carrier certification. Before buying, compare the exact model number against the carrier’s requirements; the available specifications do not establish universal US network compatibility.
Import checklist
- Confirm the exact model number and whether the phone has its original China ROM or a seller-modified/global ROM.
- Verify Google Play, required language support and the behavior of the apps and services you rely on.
- Check LTE and 5G bands, VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling and carrier certification with your specific carrier, including T-Mobile, AT&T or Verizon in the US. A SIM fitting the tray does not ensure service.
- Ask whether eSIM is supported if you need it, and verify the software-update and bootloader policies.
- Read where warranty repairs are handled, who pays return shipping, and whether the seller or HONOR provides coverage in your country.
- Calculate shipping, customs or import duties, sales tax and payment fees; confirm the charger plug, included accessories, stock status, and that the listed RAM and storage match the item being shipped.
- Check whether the device is new, refurbished or modified, and understand the seller’s return terms before ordering.
Importer pages such as Giztop’s WIN RT listing and TradingShenzhen’s listings can help identify what is being offered, but verify price, ROM, stock and warranty directly with the seller before purchase.
Quick Recap
Who should consider the WIN or WIN RT?
- Choose the WIN RT if battery capacity, a high-refresh OLED and sustained gaming hardware matter more to you than the newest chip, wireless charging or a more versatile camera system—and you can buy it on terms you trust.
- Consider the WIN if you want the newer Snapdragon platform, the reported triple-camera setup and 80W wireless charging, and its higher China starting price fits your budget.
- Look elsewhere if official US warranty support, verified carrier compatibility, camera-first performance, a compact body or a well-established international software experience is essential. Dedicated gaming-phone lines such as ASUS ROG Phone and RedMagic are relevant comparisons for buyers who want gaming controls and accessories, but current competing prices and specifications are not established here.
