The announcement listed Cloud, Console, and PC, and named Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. That date records when the game was set to arrive; it does not establish whether it is still in the catalog today.
When did Modern Warfare II join Game Pass?
Xbox announced the addition on April 15, 2025, in its Game Pass update. The listing said Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (Cloud, Console, and PC) – May 1 and named Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Xbox Wire’s April 15 announcement is the source for that scheduled date and the plans stated at the time.
Which Modern Warfare II is it?
This is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, released in 2022—not the 2009 game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, nor Modern Warfare III. Xbox lists the 2022 title’s release date as October 28, 2022 and provides Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One editions. Xbox’s game listing and Activision’s editions FAQ identify the 2022 release.
Does the 2025 announcement mean it is available now?
No. A dated “Coming Soon” listing confirms Xbox’s announced plan for May 1, 2025, not permanent catalog membership or present-day availability. Game Pass selections can change. Check the live Xbox catalog for your region and platform before subscribing on the assumption that the game is currently included. Xbox’s Game Pass games catalog is the appropriate place to check current listings.

- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II - Xbox One/ Xbox Series X
The announcement named Cloud, Console, and PC, but that wording alone does not guarantee access on every device, in every region, or through every Game Pass tier. Activision’s FAQ says active Game Pass Console, Game Pass PC, or Game Pass Ultimate subscribers have access to the standard edition; plan names and catalog availability may change, so verify the current listing for your account.
Can you buy the Xbox version instead?
Yes. Xbox lists editions for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, so buying an Xbox edition is an alternative to relying on subscription catalog access. A purchase has an upfront cost and is separate from Game Pass; current prices and retail availability depend on the seller and were not established by the official catalog announcement.

- This renewed game has been cleaned, tested, and shows minimal wear.
Don’t confuse it with the earlier Modern Warfare III cloud listing
An October 15, 2024 Xbox Game Pass update discussed cloud access for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Call of Duty: Warzone. That was a different announcement from the May 2025 addition of Modern Warfare II. Xbox Wire’s October 2024 update covers that earlier news.
