There is no single best Keepsake for every Hades II run. Choose one that solves your immediate problem: steer toward a needed god’s boon, shore up survival or resources, or take a combat effect whose conditions fit your route. For many runs, the useful plan is to equip a god-focused Keepsake, then switch after its steering effect has done its job.
How to choose a Keepsake for your run
- Decide what the run needs now. Are you chasing a particular god’s boon, trying to stay alive, short on a resource, or looking for more damage?
- Check the trigger, duration, and cost. Some effects are one-time, last for a region or a set number of encounters, or work only while Fates’ Whim is active. The biggest number is not automatically the most useful effect.
- Plan when to change it. A god-focused Keepsake may have served its purpose once the desired boon appears. A limited-use effect may also be spent. NeonHades2’s Keepsake reference recommends treating Keepsakes as a route sequence: force the needed god, then switch when that god appears or the effect is used. See its Keepsake roster and item entries.
- Weigh the tradeoff. White Antler offers Critical chance but caps maximum Life; Discordant Bell increases damage dealt and taken together. Effects make sense in context, not in a leaderboard divorced from the build and route.
Best Keepsakes by purpose
The effects below follow the independent NeonHades2 roster, which says it was checked against Post-Launch Patch 2 – Hotfix 5, dated July 28, 2026. These are reported in-game effects, not comparative performance measurements. Check the effect’s full condition in its item entry or in-game, particularly if the game has updated since that verification.
To steer toward a god or reward
These Keepsakes make the named reward more likely and may Rarify one of that god’s Common blessings during the night:
- Adamant Shard: Hephaestus.
- Barley Sheaf: Demeter.
- Beautiful Mirror: Aphrodite.
- Cloud Bangle: Zeus.
- Everlasting Ember: Hestia.
- Harmonic Photon: Apollo.
- Iridescent Fan: Hera.
- Sword Hilt: Ares.
- Vivid Sea: Poseidon.
- Moon Beam: makes a Selene reward more likely; the next Path of Stars upgrade found grants three additional upgrades.
Pick the god whose boon would support the build you want, then reconsider the Keepsake once its limited steering or Rarifying opportunity has served its purpose. The roster describes these as increasing likelihood, not guaranteeing a particular boon.

#1 Best Overall
- Battle beyond the Underworld using dark sorcery to take on the Titan of Time in this bewitching sequel to the award-winning rogue-like dungeon crawler.
For survival and recovery
- Engraved Pin: The first time Life reaches zero in an encounter, become invulnerable; clear the encounter in time to restore 30 Life.
- Ghost Onion: Fully restore Life when exiting a location, up to 50 Life restored over the night.
- Gorgon Amulet: While you have no Death Defiance, Athena may appear once that night with at least Common boons.
- Luckier Tooth: After falling to zero Life, automatically restore 51 Life once that night.
- Silken Sash: Gain 30 Armor; while at least one Armor remains, gain two Armor after each location.
- Aromatic Phial: Fountains restore 20% more Life; the next Fountain upgrades one random Common boon to Rare.
For Magick or Gold
- Silver Wheel: Gain 50 maximum Magick for the night.
- Gold Purse: Gain 100 Gold for the night.
For damage and combat
- Blackened Fleece: After taking 250 total damage that night, Omega moves gain 20%, 30%, or 40% more damage, according to rank.
- Discordant Bell: After each encounter, deal and take 0.5%, 0.8%, or 1% more damage, according to rank, for the rest of the night.
- Evil Eye: Deal 20% more damage to the last foe that vanquished you.
- Experimental Hammer: Gain one random Daedalus Hammer that lasts for 10 encounters.
- Fig Leaf: One encounter in one, two, or three regions may contain no foes, according to rank.
- Knuckle Bones: The next Guardian starts with 5% less Life, and you take 10% less damage from Guardians.
- Lion Fang: Deal 30% more damage, losing 5% of that bonus after each encounter.
- Metallic Droplet: Move, strike, and channel 20% faster for the next 200 seconds.
- Transcendent Embryo: Gain a random Common Chaos blessing, replaced every eight encounters.
- White Antler: For the next region, gain 20% Critical chance while maximum Life is limited to 30.
- Concave Stone: After choosing a boon, there is a 25% chance to randomly take one more, once that night.
Conditions matter as much as the bonus. White Antler’s Critical chance comes with a severe maximum-Life cap, while Discordant Bell’s damage increase also makes you take more damage. Lion Fang’s bonus declines as encounters pass, so its value depends on when you equip it.
For Fates’ Whim and later-run effects
- Calling Card: While at Fates’ Whim, may Rarify Olympian blessings up to two times that night.
- Crystal Figurine: After the next Guardian, activates two random inactive Arcana Cards at a rank determined by Keepsake rank.
- Jeweled Pom: While Fates’ Whim is active, grants one random Hades blessing and adds one level to most boons.
- Time Piece: While at Fates’ Whim, may purge most rewards for Gold up to two times that night.
These are not general-purpose picks: their stated effects depend on Fates’ Whim or a later Guardian, so choose them when that condition fits the route.
Rank #2
- Battle beyond the Underworld to vanquish the Titan of Time as the Princess of the Dead in this bewitching sequel to the original rogue-like dungeon crawler. Hades II lets players explore a bigger, deeper mythic world with the full might of Olympus at their call in a story that reacts to their every setback and accomplishment.
How many Keepsakes are there, and how current is this list?
The NeonHades2 reference lists 33 Keepsakes and says it was checked against Post-Launch Patch 2 – Hotfix 5 on July 28, 2026. It is an independent guide, not an official Supergiant database, and official materials cited here do not provide a complete Keepsake roster. Because later updates may change mechanics, confirm an effect’s wording and conditions in-game.
