MindsEye is a single-player action-adventure thriller from Build A Rocket Boy. What the MindsEye trailer shows
Build A Rocket Boy introduced cinematic and gameplay trailers for MindsEye during PlayStation’s February 2025 State of Play. Those are scenes shown in the reveal; they are not an independent assessment of how the finished game plays.

Combat with a support drone
The developer describes combat as tactical rather than simply a matter of charging forward. Enemies can try to flush Jacob Diaz out of cover, flank him or overwhelm him in numbers, while a companion drone can provide assistance. The trailer’s robot combat fits a story in which artificial intelligence is a central force, but the announcement does not establish a detailed account of every enemy type or combat system.
Driving through Redrock
High-speed driving is another prominent part of the reveal. The environments include urban streets as well as industrial and desert areas, suggesting that vehicles are part of the action presentation. The available official descriptions do not establish that Redrock is a fully open world or explain how freely players can explore it.

Why people compare MindsEye to Grand Theft Auto
The comparison captures a visible combination: a fictional city, vehicles, combat and cinematic action. It is useful as an impression of the trailer’s look and subject matter, but it should not be read as a claim that MindsEye is a Grand Theft Auto game, an open-world crime story or a direct equivalent to any particular GTA installment.
Build A Rocket Boy instead describes MindsEye as a single-player, narrative-driven action-adventure thriller. The official materials focus on Jacob Diaz and a near-future conspiracy involving AI, corporations and military power. They do not provide enough evidence for a systematic feature-by-feature comparison with a specific Grand Theft Auto game.

Who Jacob Diaz is and what Redrock is about
Jacob Diaz is a former soldier haunted by flashbacks connected to a covert mission. In the developer’s expanded premise, he wakes fitted with an experimental neural chip and takes a job with Silva Corporation. Fragmented memories, rogue robots, corporate experiments and military power shape the fictional desert city around him.
At the reveal, Build A Rocket Boy VP of Community and Creators Dan Bulteel called it “our narrative-driven, single-player action-adventure thriller set in the not-too-distant future, in the fictional desert city of Redrock, where artificial intelligence and human greed collide to bring Earth to the precipice of collapse.” That is the developer’s framing of the story, rather than an independently verified account of the game’s themes or player experience. What Arcadia adds
Build A Rocket Boy also presents Arcadia as a source of new missions and a creation environment. The developer says players can use its tools to build missions, environments and game logic, extending the experience beyond the central story. This is the studio’s description of the feature; the reveal materials do not establish how much content it will contain or how players will use it in practice. Details are available on the official MindsEye site.
Release date and platforms
The official platform listings give MindsEye a June 10, 2025 release date on PS5 and PC. PlayStation lists Standard and Deluxe editions for PS5; Steam identifies Build A Rocket Boy as both developer and publisher for the PC version. Those listings confirm the announced platforms and date, not current store inventory, pricing or whether a PS5 edition is available as a physical disc.
