What did the Call of Duty 2025 Zombies leak claim?
On March 14, 2025, before Black Ops 7 was officially revealed, Tom Henderson’s Insider Gaming report described a possible plan for six round-based Zombies maps over the game’s lifecycle. It attributed the details to early development ideas and explicitly cautioned that it was unclear whether Treyarch would proceed with every concept.
The reported settings included:
- A post-Second World War New York after a Nazi nuclear bomb.
- A Japanese temple near an erupting volcano.
- Vietnam.
- Afghanistan.
- A space station in the Dark Aether.
The report also said Treyarch was considering maps that could support multiple modes, including traditional round-based play, Grief, and Outbreak. It mentioned a large map with transportation in the vein of TranZit. These were reported possibilities, not a confirmed list of maps or modes.
Did the leaked Vietnam, Japan, or other settings make it into Black Ops 7?
The available official announcements do not confirm the proposed New York, Japan, Vietnam, Afghanistan, or space-station settings as standalone maps. The leak report is the direct source for those concepts; Treyarch’s later announcement confirms a different, specifically named launch map and its locations.

That distinction matters: a setting mentioned in an early concept report is not evidence that a map was completed, released, or scheduled. The leaked six-map figure should likewise be described as Insider Gaming’s report of a possible plan, not as a number Treyarch confirmed.

In its September 24, 2025 official deep dive, Treyarch named Ashes of the Damned as Black Ops 7’s first round-based Zombies map, available at launch. The map is set in the Dark Aether and has six main locations:

Treyarch said the Zombies story continues from Black Ops 6’s Reckoning and features an eight-person crew. It also said future maps would take place within the Dark Aether. Those official details establish the released map’s setting and regions; they do not establish that each region corresponds to one of the leaked concepts.
How does Ashes of the Damned compare with the leak?
The claims differ in status and in what they describe. The leak reported a possible lifecycle plan and several early setting concepts; Treyarch’s announcement identified one launch map and named locations within it.

It would be misleading to compare the leak’s five proposed settings directly against Ashes of the Damned’s six locations as though they were competing map lists. One is a report about possible standalone concepts; the other is the official geography of a single released map.
Was the TranZit-style map leak real?
Insider Gaming reported that Treyarch had considered a large map with transportation similar to TranZit, but the report framed it as an idea rather than a confirmed feature. In an Xbox Wire interview about Ashes of the Damned, Treyarch Design Director Kevin Drew explained the released map’s scale in the context of its drivable Wonder Vehicle: “That kind of dictates that you need a bigger space.” His comment concerns the official map’s design rationale; it does not confirm that the rumored TranZit-like map was made.

Because that archive changes, check it for the specific current map roster or season rather than treating a 2025 leak as current status.
