Yes—assume a piglin brute can detect and attack you even while you have the Invisibility effect. Mojang says brutes attack players “on sight, no matter how they are dressed”; invisibility can reduce detection by hostile mobs generally, but it is not guaranteed protection. No exact current brute-specific detection distance is established by the sources cited here.
What Mojang says about piglin brutes
Piglin brutes guard bastion remnants. In the Java Edition 1.16.2 release notes, published August 11, 2020, Mojang wrote: “Piglin Brutes attack players on sight, no matter how they are dressed.” The Bedrock 1.16.20 notes published the same day give the equivalent description: “Piglin Brutes attack players on sight, no matter how the player is dressed.” Mojang’s Java release notes and Mojang’s Bedrock release notes establish the brute’s hostility, but they are not a technical specification of invisibility detection.
What invisibility does—and does not—guarantee
Invisibility is a stealth aid, not a guarantee that hostile mobs cannot detect or pursue you. General invisibility mechanics describe reduced detection, while also noting that a mob that has detected a player may continue pursuing them. Armor remains visible under the effect, and how much armor you wear can affect detection in general mechanics. Do not use ordinary piglins as a guide
Some invisibility-related behavior around containers is described for ordinary piglins. That is not evidence that a piglin brute will behave the same way: Mojang describes brutes separately as attacking players on sight. Treat the two mob types as distinct when planning a bastion approach. The Minecraft Wiki’s piglin reference covers ordinary piglin behavior.

How to approach a bastion more safely
- Do not rely on invisibility to stand near a brute, pass directly in front of one, or loot around it without risk.
- Do not assume wearing less armor—or combining armor choices with invisibility—makes you brute-proof.
- Keep distance and avoid exposure where possible; the cited sources do not establish a reliable safe radius for an invisible player.
- Remember that if a hostile mob has already detected you, invisibility may not make it stop pursuing you.
Is there a safe detection distance?
The official release notes cited here do not give a brute-specific invisibility detection radius, and the general invisibility reference is not a brute-specific distance test. Because no exact current radius by edition and game version is established, there is no evidence-based distance at which you can assume a brute will not notice you.
