Yes. In a July 17, 2026 update, Bethesda Game Studios said The Elder Scrolls VI is its “primary development focus,” with most of the team working on it. Bethesda also said the game is being developed on Creation Engine 3 and that the team is “playing it every day.” The update gave no release date or launch window.
What Bethesda confirmed about The Elder Scrolls VI
Bethesda’s July 17, 2026 note is the clearest current statement of the game’s status: “The Elder Scrolls VI is our primary development focus today, with the majority of our team currently working on the next chapter of the franchise.” The studio added: “The next chapter is on the way. We’re where we planned to be, loving how it looks, and playing it every day.” Bethesda Game Studios’ update
Those words establish that the project is active and is receiving the studio’s main development attention. “Playing it every day” indicates that the team is working with a playable version, but Bethesda did not describe a completion milestone or say that release is imminent.
How the public status has changed
Bethesda announced the game in June 2018, describing it then as “currently in pre-production.” The original announcement provides a snapshot of the project at that time, not a date for when it moved into another production phase.

In a December 2025 interview, Bethesda Game Studios director and executive producer Todd Howard said the game was “progressing really well” and that the majority of the studio was working on it. He also explained that Bethesda uses long pre-production periods and that development is a process the studio wants to get right. Game Informer’s interview with Howard
The July 2026 statement makes Bethesda’s current priority more explicit. Taken together, the public comments show a shift from the 2018 pre-production description to a project that is now the studio’s primary focus, but they do not establish the exact date full production began.

When will Elder Scrolls 6 come out?
Bethesda has not announced a release date or launch window in the July 2026 update. A contemporaneous GameSpot report dated July 17, 2026 likewise says neither had been announced. The comments about team focus and daily play do not provide a reliable basis for estimating a launch year.
Is Elder Scrolls 6 in full production?
Bethesda’s latest update confirms active development and says most of the studio is working on the game. It does not use the phrase “full production” or identify a formal production phase. The available statements therefore support saying that the game is a major, active project, not assigning it a specific milestone or start date.

Its final platform list has not been announced. GameSpot reported in July 2026 that Howard said it was too early to discuss Xbox exclusivity. That leaves exclusivity unsettled publicly; it is not confirmation either way.
What Bethesda has not revealed
The cited status update and interviews do not announce the game’s setting, story details, gameplay footage, final platforms, or the date of a next reveal. Bethesda’s July 2026 note mentions that Skyrim has sold over 65 million copies as franchise context; that figure is not a sales forecast or statistic for The Elder Scrolls VI.
