There isn’t one best match-3 game for everyone. Choose by the puzzle mechanic, the story or collection layer around it, how long you want to play at a time, and how comfortable you are with ads and in-app purchases. For a polished castle-building campaign, start with Royal Match; for familiar candy matching, try Candy Crush Saga; and for matching with deeper tactical systems, consider Ticket to Earth.
Best match-3 games by player preference
These are recommendations, not results from a controlled head-to-head test. Each game suits a different kind of puzzle player, and the shortlist is not exhaustive.
Royal Match — for a classic puzzle campaign with castle restoration
Royal Match combines match-3 boards with obstacles, boosters, coins, castle restoration, teams, and online events, according to its Google Play listing. It’s a strong starting point if you want familiar board puzzles tied to an ongoing decoration and event campaign. The Google Play listing discloses in-app purchases, including random items; Apple also lists the game as free with in-app purchases. Check your own storefront for current details.
Candy Crush Saga — for recognizable candy matching
Candy Crush Saga is a straightforward pick if you want the familiar candy-themed match-3 format. Apple includes it in its US “Best Match Puzzlers” collection and its “Fantastic match-3 games” collection. Those editorial placements make it a useful candidate, not proof that it is objectively better than competing games.

Choose Matchington Mansion if you want cleared match-3 levels to feed into home decoration, customization, and a story; those elements are described in its Google Play listing. Homescapes is another option if you want a match-3 game with a home-design layer; Apple includes it in its “Fantastic match-3 games” collection.
Disney Emoji Blitz — for timed rounds and character collecting
Disney Emoji Blitz focuses on timed challenges, Disney character traits, and collecting character emojis, according to its Google Play listing. It fits players who enjoy licensed characters and short, fast sessions. The listing discloses ads and in-app purchases; review your platform’s current listing before installing.

Two Dots asks players to link colored dots rather than swap adjacent pieces to make matches of three. Pocket Gamer describes its puzzles as carefully designed, one-hit challenges. It’s an adjacent recommendation, not a strict match-three substitute, for players who prefer clean visuals and more deliberate puzzle solving.

Farm Heroes Saga — for matching with collection goals
In Farm Heroes Saga, players collect fruit by matching three or more identical items, while also meeting conditions that vary by level, according to Pocket Gamer’s match-3 game guide. That extra objective gives each board a goal beyond making matches.
How to choose the right match-3 game
Start with how the puzzle works
Most traditional match-3 games center on swapping adjacent pieces. Other games use a different interaction: Two Dots, for example, is about linking dots. If the board mechanic itself is your priority, check whether a recommendation is a standard swap-three game or a related puzzle with a different feel.

Consider the progression outside the board

Match the game to your session style
Timed challenges such as those in Disney Emoji Blitz suit quick bursts of play. If you prefer ongoing level progression, decoration, or story, a campaign-oriented choice such as Royal Match, Matchington Mansion, or Ticket to Earth may be a better fit.

Check storefront disclosures before installing
Look at the current listing for your device to check the price, ads, in-app purchases, and any disclosure about random items. Store labels report what the publisher declares; they do not tell you how much you might spend or whether the purchase model will feel fair to you. Storefront details and game features can change.
Verify device and regional availability
The recommendations draw on specific storefronts: some information is from Google Play, some from Apple’s US editorial collections, and Pocket Gamer’s Ticket to Earth coverage is iOS-focused. Don’t assume a title is available on every device or in every country; check the listing for your platform and region.
