If you do not want Geralt to romance Triss, do not use that declaration to persuade her to stay. Let her leave, and the quest outcome is that they meet again as friends.
What choices lead to the Triss romance?
The romance route involves more than the dockside exchange. The guides say Geralt must have kissed Triss earlier during “A Matter of Life and Death,” then choose “Stay with me” and “I love you” in “Now or Never.”

When should you finish “Now or Never”?
Complete the quest before beginning “The Isle of Mists.” Walkthroughs warn that progressing to that point can cause “Now or Never” to fail, removing the opportunity to resolve Triss’s departure through the quest.

Some older player advice suggests an earlier “Let’s try again” choice can make Triss stay without the love declaration. A current guide characterizes that advice as historical or bug-related and recommends following patched-game guidance instead.
